The Role
Oxfam in Africa seeks a seasoned Strategic Communications Advisor to enhance the Director’s external outreach and strengthen Oxfam’s presence across Africa and worldwide.
In this pivotal and fast-paced position within Oxfam’s advocacy efforts, you will craft and execute strategic communications that elevate the Director’s visibility, guaranteeing that their public engagements—from international summits to media interviews—are compelling, cohesive, and fully aligned with Oxfam’s core objectives.
You will collaborate closely with the Senior Leadership Team, Media and Communications colleagues, and partners across the confederation to develop and implement strategic plans, refine messaging, and execute high-impact engagements—all while fostering seamless alignment between advocacy efforts, communications initiatives, and the organization’s overarching strategy.
This position is accountable to the Africa Director at Oxfam, while maintaining a secondary reporting relationship with the Media and Communications Lead.

You excel at cultivating meaningful relationships, effortlessly connecting with senior stakeholders in government agencies, international organizations, civil society groups, and global partners. With the ability to perform under dynamic, high-pressure conditions, you adeptly juggle competing priorities while upholding meticulous attention to detail.
A visionary strategist who excels in recognizing opportunities to amplify Oxfam’s influence and optimize the impact of leadership interactions. You are deeply committed to core values, championing social justice and gender equality while advancing Oxfam’s mission. Proficiency in both English and French is mandatory, with Portuguese as a desirable asset.
