Job Summary
The Relationship Manager is tasked with fostering business growth by acquiring new customers, expanding existing portfolios, increasing deposit mobilization, and cultivating strong customer relationships while ensuring exceptional service delivery. Additionally, the role involves upholding portfolio quality standards, assisting with recovery efforts, and strictly adhering to regulatory mandates as well as the Bank’s established policies and procedures.
The position encompasses a broad spectrum of duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to strategic planning, team leadership, project execution, and stakeholder communication. Key tasks involve analyzing market trends, developing innovative solutions, and ensuring operational efficiency across departments. The role demands meticulous attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple priorities concurrently, and a commitment to delivering measurable results. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, adherence to company policies, and adherence to deadlines are essential. Deliver measurable business outcomes aligned with objectives such as customer acquisition, deposit mobilization, asset growth, profitability targets, and market share expansion.
Develop and oversee a robust pipeline of prospective clients while nurturing ongoing relationships with current customers to improve retention rates and increase the share of their spending.
Leverage strategic insights to uncover and exploit emerging market opportunities, thereby expanding the Bank’s retail, SME, and corporate business portfolios.
Drive revenue growth and deepen customer relationships by actively promoting and cross-selling the Bank’s diverse product and service offerings to meet evolving client needs.
Partner with branch teams and other business units to expand the Bank’s asset and liability portfolios.
Craft comprehensive credit proposals of high quality and collaborate closely with the Credit Department to facilitate prompt and streamlined processing of facilities.
Monitor portfolio performance diligently while taking proactive measures to address delinquencies and recoveries, ensuring sustained portfolio quality and reducing non-performing loans to acceptable levels.
Deliver consistent on-site customer engagement while maintaining a proactive and high-caliber approach to service to enhance client relationships and ensure satisfaction.
Collect market data and analyze trends to identify opportunities for enhancing the Bank’s competitive edge, subsequently proposing strategic initiatives, product enhancements, and service optimizations to strengthen market positioning.
Effectively oversee sales and relationship management expenditures to maximize resource allocation and enhance profitability.
Compile and deliver regular business performance and portfolio reports to facilitate informed decision-making processes.
Maintain rigorous adherence to all regulatory mandates, including Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Know Your Customer (KYC), and internal policies, while upholding stringent risk management standards and ethical integrity.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience is required, along with a minimum of five years of hands-on experience in a similar role. Proficiency in industry-standard software and tools is essential, coupled with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication and teamwork skills are necessary to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Demonstrated leadership in managing projects and driving results is also required to ensure successful outcomes.
A bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, economics, or a closely related discipline is required.
With a minimum of five years of hands-on experience in business development, specifically in direct sales, corporate relationship management, or business banking within Kenya’s commercial banking sector, the ideal candidate will bring a proven track record of success in driving revenue growth and expanding client portfolios.
Demonstrates a comprehensive knowledge of banking products and services, along with a strong ability to apply this expertise in practical scenarios.
Possesses a solid grasp of credit analysis, portfolio management, and debt recovery principles. Demonstrates proficiency in evaluating creditworthiness, managing investment portfolios, and implementing effective debt recovery strategies.
Proven track record in cultivating and maintaining long-term, mutually beneficial partnerships with clients to drive revenue growth and customer loyalty.
Exceptional proficiency in negotiation, communication, and presentation is required.
Proficiency in CBK Prudential Guidelines, AML/CFT regulations, and KYC requirements is essential.
