Job summary/ Job purpose/ Role Intent:
The Sectional IP Network Engineer–Field will deliver MAN network availability and customer uptime KPIs by performing on-site power maintenance for designated MAN nodes, maintaining service quality and continuity in alignment with company KPIs while managing budget constraints. Additionally, the role involves executing Feasibility & Implementation tasks, as well as handling billing-related disconnections and reconnections of ISDN and PSTN circuits at the MAN level.
Oversee and execute core duties encompassing strategic planning, project management, and cross-functional collaboration to drive organizational objectives forward. Lead initiatives aimed at optimizing operational efficiency, enhancing productivity, and fostering innovation across teams. Serve as a liaison between departments to ensure seamless communication and alignment with company goals. Develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practices to uphold compliance and elevate performance standards. Monitor key performance indicators to assess progress, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions as needed.
Ensure MAN availability remains consistent by proactively maintaining the power supply units of the nodes.
Efficiently handle and resolve MAN and Switch power-related faults assigned to you while ensuring compliance with the stipulated Service Level Agreements.
Key updates are facilitated throughout the restoration process to maintain comprehensive communication with the customer.
Execute feasibility studies, implement, and manage disconnections and reconnections of ISDN and PSTN circuits.
Customer setup documentation entails the creation and maintenance of clear, comprehensive guides that facilitate the seamless onboarding of new users, ensuring they can efficiently configure systems, access resources, and adhere to established protocols with minimal assistance.
Ensure a secure work environment by adhering to all HSE protocols, established engineering standards, established procedures, and applicable legal regulations.
Monitor individual performance metrics and recommend strategic initiatives to enhance productivity and development.
Oversee and evaluate network expenditures, ensuring alignment with the Finance department’s objectives and financial guidelines.
Performs any additional duties as may be assigned or delegated by the line manager.

Submit monthly Street MAN power meter readings to the finance department no later than the 20th of each month.

To ensure that 90% of all Nairobi Medium and Small Area Networks (Means) meet their Power targets, consistent performance monitoring and targeted interventions will be required. Ninety percent of Nairobi’s Medium Voltage Secondary Network Substations (Means) achieve a Power Quality performance rating exceeding 90%.
Within two hours following bill payment, it is mandatory that 80% of disconnected lines are restored to service.
Customer SLA management requires that 80% of all provision and cessation cases assigned be resolved within a 24-hour timeframe.
To ensure operational efficiency, 80% of all reported faults must be resolved within a four-hour timeframe. This requirement underscores the importance of prompt issue resolution to maintain service reliability and customer satisfaction.
Conduct quarterly routine maintenance on all MAN nodes and deliver power autonomy status along with recommendations for each individual node.
Ensure all assigned Feasibility tickets are resolved within a 24-hour timeframe.
Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field, complemented by at least two years of professional experience in a comparable role.
