The Program Officer – School Meals collaborates closely with the Technical Director to oversee the coordination, execution, monitoring, and reporting of the Global School Meals Program, in addition to driving resource mobilization efforts. This position plays a pivotal role in fostering meaningful stakeholder involvement, developing strategic resources, and enhancing knowledge management practices to reinforce program effectiveness, expand portfolio reach, and elevate visibility.

The position will oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of information systems, reporting frameworks, and documentation for the School Meals Program. Key responsibilities include creating monthly dashboards, producing quarterly reports, and compiling annual publications, alongside administering the online information platform and upholding rigorous documentation standards for advocacy and communication initiatives.

Oversee and execute critical job functions, including but not limited to strategic planning, operational oversight, and team leadership. Ensure adherence to organizational policies while driving performance and productivity. Collaborate with cross-functional departments to align goals and optimize workflows. Monitor progress through KPIs and data analysis, providing actionable insights to senior management. Maintain compliance with industry regulations and internal standards. Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement within the team. Develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Represent the organization in external engagements, including client meetings and industry conferences.

Responsible for spearheading the development and implementation of information management systems, reporting frameworks, and documentation protocols for the School Meals program.

Oversee the creation of monthly dashboards and quarterly reports in collaboration with the information management team.

Collaborate with technical, advocacy, and communication teams to develop essential publications, case studies, and capacity statements focused on school meals.

Oversee the creation of the school meals annual report.

Oversee school meal service channels and ensure all required documentation is meticulously prepared and filed.

Oversee the School Meals online information management platform to ensure seamless operation and data integrity.

Oversee the development and implementation of learning initiatives and evidence-based strategies for School Meals programs.

Best practices and learning platforms/meetings should be structured to foster collaboration between technical leads and field offices, focusing on key themes related to school meals. This initiative aims to align strategies and share insights across teams, ensuring consistent implementation and continuous improvement in meal programs.

Proactively engage with field offices to ensure the successful adoption of insights and best practices derived from evaluations and learning forums.

Craft innovative engagement solutions tailored to enhance school meal programs.

Offer expert counsel to School Officers regarding the strategic deployment of Private Non-Sponsorship funding to facilitate the execution of school meals programs.

To ensure field offices receive the necessary technical expertise, coordinate between them and the appropriate technical staff throughout the proposal development process.

Monitor and oversee the execution of the School Meals initiative and related measures arising from internal and external discussions, documenting progress through activity logs and other tracking tools.

Distribute school meals guidelines and ensure their proper execution.

Assist in organizing and attending critical meetings to ensure effective collaboration and decision-making processes.

Assist with the organization and facilitation of internal and external School Meals meetings.

Assist in developing presentation materials for discussions concerning school meal programs.

Attend additional meetings as necessary, including those with donors, HEADS, technical staff, and field offices.

Monitor the execution of the School Meals initiative and related undertakings stemming from internal and external discussions by employing tools like activity logs to document progress.

Recording sessions are conducted, and follow-up action plans are established to ensure tasks are completed efficiently.

A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Candidates must possess at least three years of professional experience in a similar role, with a proven track record of success in project management and team leadership. Essential skills include strong analytical abilities, excellent communication skills, and proficiency in industry-specific software and tools. Knowledge of current industry trends, regulatory standards, and best practices is also required to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.

A bachelor’s degree in a discipline pertinent to community development—ideally in sociology, international or political studies, humanitarian law, public health, population studies, or related fields—is required.

A strong understanding of the humanitarian sector and international development landscape is essential for this role.

With a minimum of five years of professional experience in relevant fields—such as program development, report writing, academic research, or international non-governmental work—you will bring valuable expertise to this role.
