The Compliance & Risk Support team delivers strategic direction, operational coordination, and specialized assistance to Management Authorities, fostering heightened organizational risk awareness, enhanced resilience, and strict adherence to regulatory standards. By facilitating the identification, evaluation, and mitigation of critical risks—including strategic, operational, financial, and safeguarding concerns—the team empowers leadership to make well-informed decisions while advancing the organization’s long-term goals sustainably.

The Crisis & Risk Management Support Professional plays a key role in developing, executing, and enhancing enterprise-wide risk management and crisis preparedness frameworks for Managing Agents (MA’s). This position delivers structured analytical insights, operational coordination, and expert guidance to reinforce risk-driven decision-making and streamline crisis response efforts, all in accordance with established organizational policies, governance structures, and risk tolerance parameters. Additionally, the role assists in compiling consolidated reporting and provides senior leadership—including Executive Board (EB) and Internal Board (IB) members—with well-researched analytical tools and decision-enhancing resources.

Oversee and execute a range of essential duties and obligations, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and operational standards. Implement strategies to enhance productivity, efficiency, and effectiveness across assigned functions, while maintaining rigorous adherence to established protocols and industry regulations. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline workflows, resolve challenges, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability. Support the establishment, deployment, and ongoing enhancement of enterprise risk management (ERM) principles, frameworks, and tools. Facilitate systematic processes for identifying and evaluating risks while assisting in the creation and oversight of mitigation strategies and internal controls. Ensure these efforts remain in harmony with governance frameworks and organizational policies.

Conduct comprehensive risk assessments, develop insightful dashboards, and compile detailed consolidated reports for senior leadership; collaborate actively in risk evaluations, audits, and assurance initiatives; and maintain precise documentation and standardized reporting facilitating well-informed risk-based decision-making.

Support the creation and continuous refinement of crisis response protocols, Standard Response Actions (SRA’s), contingency plans, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Additionally, assist in crisis simulations and preparedness drills, while ensuring the integration of crisis preparedness into both operational and programmatic frameworks.

Provide coordination and analytical support in crisis scenarios, compiling detailed situation reports, structured briefings—including data-driven and executive summaries—for senior leadership, while contributing to after-action reviews and lessons-learned initiatives to enhance organizational resilience.

Collaborate with safeguarding, humanitarian action, compliance, audit, finance, communications, and security teams to implement unified risk and crisis management strategies; deliver expert technical advice and resources to Member Associations; establish and maintain an organized information exchange across all entities; and enforce adherence to established risk and crisis management policies and escalation protocols.

Develop and enhance an Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program aligned with the COST 2017 framework (or its most current iteration). Provide strategic counsel to leadership regarding the alignment of risk appetite with organizational strategy, performance objectives, and protective measures.

Provide guidance on the design, upkeep, and rigorous evaluation of Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery strategies. Verify that essential business operations possess a secondary contingency plan, confirmed through consistent simulated drills and practical scenario assessments.

Offer expert guidance on risk management while collaborating with teams to formulate and enhance risk mitigation strategies and preparedness measures.

A minimum of a decade of professional expertise in crisis management, risk management, internal control, audit, compliance, or closely related disciplines is required, with demonstrated knowledge of standards such as ISO 31000 and ISO 22301, among others.

With a minimum of five years of hands-on experience in risk reporting, candidates must demonstrate a proven track record of advising senior leadership—including C-level and S-Board executives—on risk-related matters.

Preferred candidates will possess prior experience within an international NGO or a federated system environment.

Individuals must be prepared to undertake travel for 30–35% of their working hours, requiring flexibility in scheduling and adaptability to varying work environments.

Proficiency in both English and French is essential, while additional fluency in Spanish would be advantageous.
