To achieve financial targets, oversee cost management while ensuring prompt and precise billing for pharmaceuticals and services rendered. Maintain an invoice rejection rate below 3% by verifying that all necessary pre-authorizations and documentation are completed accurately.

Diligently monitor for, identify, and escalate any instances of fraudulent behavior or illicit activities to appropriate stakeholders for further investigation and resolution.
Collaborate closely with the Lead Nurse to ensure comprehensive execution of internal audit recommendations and achieve favorable outcomes in future audits.
To ensure proficiency in role performance, thoroughly review and maintain familiarity with all systems, policies, and procedures detailed in the Hospital Manual, with particular emphasis on those governing medical service delivery—such as admission and discharge protocols, nursing documentation standards, ward equipment and supply management, and emergency response guidelines.
Document all sentinel incidents or events and submit a formal report within 24 hours using the designated reporting tools.
Ensure strict adherence to infection control protocols outlined in the hospital manual while consistently implementing infection control bundles, including SSI, VAP, CACTI, and CLA BSI, as appropriate.
Oversee patient attendants in alignment with their designated responsibilities and job functions.
Engage actively in ward rounds and obtain handover reports from the oncoming nurse at the end of each shift to ensure continuity of patient care.
Evaluate the patient’s goals of care in consultation with their next of kin.

Educate patients and their families about health-related concerns, ensuring they understand pertinent medical information and treatment options to facilitate informed decision-making and improved health outcomes.
The nursing care plan must systematically prioritize patient needs to ensure comprehensive and effective care delivery.
Maintain the emergency trolley in optimal condition for efficient resuscitation efforts by ensuring all drugs and supplies are fully stocked and readily accessible. Remove and promptly report any damaged equipment, and keep the checklist updated on the 1st and 16th of every month, as well as whenever necessary.
Provide doctors and consultants with immediate updates regarding patient progress and any critical values as soon as such information becomes accessible.
Execute all invasive nursing interventions with meticulous adherence to aseptic technique.
Daily, input unit-specific information with accuracy and timeliness, ensuring all data is recorded without delay.
Ensure that all designated consultants have thoroughly explained the procedures and have acquired the necessary consent from the involved parties.
Ensure all patient-related official checklists are thoroughly completed before any procedures, including those in theater, radiology, and renal units.
Maintain strict adherence to patient privacy and confidentiality protocols at all times, as outlined in established policies.
Administers medications as prescribed by healthcare providers, ensuring accurate dosage and proper administration routes, while monitoring patients for adverse reactions or therapeutic effectiveness.
Ensure strict adherence to the ten fundamental principles of drug administration, including verifying the correct patient, medication, dosage, route, time, documentation, client education, assessment, evaluation, and respecting the client’s right to refuse treatment.
Ensure all newly prescribed medications are submitted to the pharmacy without delay, with STAT doses administered within a 30-minute timeframe.
Ensure the secure storage of D.D.A. drugs and maintain accurate, unit-specific records in accordance with established protocols.
All unused medications must be reimbursed without delay.
All verbal prescriptions must be countersigned by the attending physician within 24 hours, in accordance with hospital protocol.
Demonstrates adherence to the Nursing Council of Kenya’s established professional standards for patient care and treatment.
Ensure exceptional client satisfaction—including patients, consultants, and other stakeholders—by delivering the highest quality of care, fostering clear and effective communication, providing timely feedback, and escalating unresolved issues to the Unit Manager for resolution. Additionally, actively follow up on concerns and implement improvements to enhance service standards consistently.

Person Specification
A Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree or an equivalent nursing diploma is required.
A Higher Diploma in Neonatal or Pediatric Critical Care Nursing (NICU/PICK) is an essential qualification for this role.
A current and active license issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya is required.
Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) or Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLAS), with credentials maintained in current status.
A minimum of two years of professional experience in a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) or pediatric intensive care unit (PICK) setting is required.
Proven ability to build strong interpersonal relationships and convey information effectively, along with a meticulous approach to tasks. Demonstrates a commitment to achieving measurable outcomes while maintaining dependability in all responsibilities.
