Position Summary

Reporting directly to the Chief Operations Officer, the Quality Assurance Manager will spearhead quality assurance initiatives, oversee quality control measures throughout the supply chain, administer audits and compliance protocols, and direct quality teams to uphold rigorous standards. The role demands strict adherence to both local and international food safety regulations, including Global. A.P., HACCP, BRC, phytosanitary guidelines, and any customer-specific mandates to ensure seamless export compliance.

Oversee and execute core duties and obligations associated with the position, ensuring adherence to organizational standards and objectives while contributing to team and departmental goals. Manage daily operations with precision, addressing challenges proactively and fostering a collaborative work environment. Quality Assurance and Food Safety Systems encompass the development, implementation, and maintenance of rigorous standards to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. This role involves conducting comprehensive audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions. Professionals in this field are responsible for maintaining detailed documentation, training staff on safety protocols, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement in food handling and processing operations. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of food safety regulations, such as HACCP and GMP, are essential. Additionally, the position may require collaboration with cross-functional teams to address quality issues and drive sustainable enhancements in food safety management systems.

Duties include designing, executing, and overseeing quality assurance systems, food safety protocols, and product quality benchmarks, with a focus on avocado maturity, size, color, firmness, appearance, weight, ripeness, and overall consistency.

Ensures rigorous oversight of supply chain operations to uphold quality standards at every stage, from procurement to final delivery. Monitors supplier performance, evaluates product compliance with specifications, and identifies opportunities for process improvements to mitigate risks. Conducts thorough audits, inspects incoming materials, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to resolve quality discrepancies efficiently. Maintains detailed documentation of findings, implements corrective actions, and ensures adherence to regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Requires a minimum of three years in quality assurance, expertise in quality management systems, and proficiency with industry-specific tools. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential to drive continuous improvement and maintain stakeholder trust.

Responsibilities include supervising quality control measures throughout sourcing, harvesting, packing, storage, transportation, and export operations. Regular assessments of incoming produce are performed, alongside continuous monitoring of post-harvest handling to minimize bruising, spoilage, contamination, and product loss.

Ensures adherence to regulatory standards, conducts thorough audits, and manages certification processes to uphold organizational integrity and operational efficiency.

Ensure adherence to both local and international food safety regulations as well as export standards. Oversee internal quality audits and facilitate external inspections conducted by regulatory agencies, certification entities, and export clients.

Handle customer complaints efficiently and implement corrective actions to address issues promptly and ensure resolution. Investigate complaints thoroughly to identify root causes, document findings accurately, and propose solutions that prevent recurrence. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to facilitate corrective and preventive measures, ensuring compliance with established standards and regulatory requirements. Maintain detailed records of complaints, actions taken, and outcomes to support continuous improvement and audit readiness.

Investigate customer and export partner quality complaints, perform thorough root cause analyses, and execute corrective and preventive measures to minimize recurrence.

Experienced leaders required to oversee and coach teams while ensuring skill development through comprehensive training programs.

Oversee quality assurance inspectors and quality control personnel by delegating tasks, evaluating performance, and providing training to farmworkers, packhorse teams, and inspectors on quality benchmarks, hygiene protocols, food safety regulations, and proper handling techniques.

Reporting, traceability, and continuous improvement initiatives are overseen to ensure compliance, efficiency, and enhanced performance. This role demands meticulous attention to detail to maintain accurate records, track processes, and identify opportunities for optimization. Strong analytical skills are essential for evaluating data, generating insightful reports, and driving informed decision-making. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is required to implement improvements and sustain best practices across the organization. Proficiency in relevant tools and methodologies is necessary to support systematic tracking and reporting mechanisms.

Seeking candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and a minimum of three years of professional experience in the industry. Proficiency in industry-specific software and tools is essential. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with excellent communication abilities, are required. Familiarity with project management methodologies and regulatory compliance standards is a plus. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a proactive approach, adaptability to change, and a commitment to continuous learning.

A Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Quality Assurance, Microbiology, or a related discipline is required.

With a minimum of seven years of hands-on experience in quality assurance within the food processing sector, the ideal candidate will bring a wealth of expertise to ensure compliance and excellence in production standards.

Proficient in quality control procedures, testing methodologies, regulatory mandates, and food safety regulations.

Proficiency in quality management systems, laboratory operations, audit processes, and export compliance regulations represents a desirable qualification.
