Position Summary

The Quality Assurance Manager will report directly to the Chief Operations Officer, providing leadership for all quality assurance initiatives while overseeing quality control measures throughout the supply chain. This role will involve managing audit processes and compliance protocols, directing quality teams, and ensuring strict adherence to both local and international food safety and export standards—including Global. A.P., HACCP, BRC, phytosanitary regulations, and any customer-specific mandates.

Oversee and execute a comprehensive range of duties and responsibilities, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and operational excellence. Collaborate across departments to streamline processes, enhance productivity, and maintain high standards of performance. Analyze workflows to identify areas for improvement, implementing strategic solutions to optimize efficiency and effectiveness. Serve as a key liaison between leadership and teams, facilitating clear communication and fostering a collaborative work environment. Monitor progress toward goals, providing regular updates and actionable insights to stakeholders. Uphold compliance with policies, regulations, and industry best practices while supporting continuous growth and innovation within the role.

Ensures adherence to rigorous quality standards and food safety protocols through systematic management of systems, processes, and documentation. Responsible for implementing and maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and internal policies to mitigate risks and uphold product integrity. Conducts regular inspections, audits, and reviews to identify non-conformances, drive corrective actions, and foster continuous improvement across all operational stages. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to enhance training, communication, and accountability in maintaining the highest levels of safety, quality, and regulatory alignment.

Develop and oversee quality assurance systems, food safety protocols, and quality standards, ensuring adherence to specifications for avocado maturity, size, color, firmness, appearance, weight, ripeness, and overall product consistency. Implement and maintain these processes to guarantee compliance and uphold the highest standards of quality throughout production.

The Supply Chain Quality Control role is responsible for ensuring that all products and processes within the supply chain meet established quality standards and regulatory requirements. This position involves monitoring and evaluating suppliers, conducting risk assessments, and implementing corrective actions to address any deviations or non-conformities. Additionally, the role requires collaborating with cross-functional teams, including procurement, manufacturing, and logistics, to enhance overall quality performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in quality management systems are essential for success in this position.

Responsibilities include supervising quality control measures throughout sourcing, harvesting, packing, storage, transportation, and export operations. Perform regular inspections of incoming produce and track post-harvest handling practices to minimize bruising, spoilage, contamination, and product waste.

The position involves overseeing compliance initiatives, conducting thorough audits, and managing certification processes to ensure adherence to regulatory standards and organizational policies. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing compliance frameworks, performing detailed audits to identify gaps or risks, and coordinating with stakeholders to maintain accurate certification records. The role requires a strong understanding of industry regulations, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to interpret complex compliance requirements. Proficiency in audit methodologies, certification processes, and risk management is essential, along with excellent communication and analytical skills to report findings and recommend corrective actions.

Ensure adherence to local and international food safety and export regulations while overseeing internal quality audits and facilitating external inspections conducted by regulatory agencies, certification entities, and export clients.

Responsible for addressing customer complaints and implementing corrective measures.

Investigate customer and export partner quality complaints thoroughly, perform detailed root cause analysis, and establish corrective and preventive measures to minimize recurrence.

Experienced professionals are sought to lead and develop teams through targeted training initiatives and mentorship, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Candidates must demonstrate strong leadership capabilities, exceptional communication skills, and a proven track record in designing and delivering effective training programs. The role requires the ability to assess team performance, identify skill gaps, and implement strategic development plans to enhance productivity and engagement. Oversee a team of quality assurance inspectors and quality control personnel, delegating tasks, evaluating performance, and providing training to farmworkers, packhorse teams, and inspectors on quality standards, hygiene protocols, food safety measures, and proper handling procedures.

The role is responsible for overseeing reporting processes, ensuring traceability across all stages, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. This position requires meticulous attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to interpret data accurately to inform decision-making. Key duties include maintaining comprehensive records, identifying trends or gaps in processes, and proposing strategic enhancements to optimize efficiency and compliance. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential to implement improvements and align reporting standards with organizational goals.

Maintain precise quality records, inspection reports, traceability documents, and certification files. Evaluate quality performance metrics to spearhead enhancements aimed at minimizing waste, enhancing product uniformity, elevating export compliance rates, and advancing sustainability and traceability efforts.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field required; candidates with equivalent professional experience will be considered. Minimum of three years of experience in software development, preferably within an Agile environment. Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or C# is essential. Experience with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure is highly desirable. Strong problem-solving abilities and a commitment to continuous learning are critical. Excellent communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams are necessary.

A Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Quality Assurance, Microbiology, or an equivalent discipline is required.

A minimum of seven years of professional experience in quality assurance within the food processing sector is required.

Proven expertise in quality control methodologies, inspection techniques, regulatory compliance, and food safety regulations is required.

Proficiency in quality management systems, laboratory operations, audit processes, and export compliance regulations is highly desirable.
