What you’ll do:
As the University Guidance Counselor, you will be instrumental in shaping students’ futures by guiding them through the university application process and equipping them with the tools needed for success. Your key duties will encompass:
Guide students comprehensively through each phase of the university application journey—spanning university shortlisting to scholarship acquisition—leveraging in-depth knowledge of international pathways and British Curriculum prerequisites.
Collaborate effectively with educators, families, school administrators, and academic departments to track student performance and provide well-informed recommendations.
Enriching Extracurricular Offerings: Design and implement initiatives to broaden students’ academic engagement while coordinating career-focused activities, including events, workshops, and mentoring sessions.
Developing and overseeing strategic alliances with higher education institutions, particularly in Africa and other global regions, along with administering university application systems and digital resources, is a core responsibility of this role.
Develop and nurture a robust alumni network to empower current and former students throughout their academic and professional pursuits.
The preferred applicant must demonstrate proven expertise in their field, coupled with exceptional communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams. They should possess a minimum of five years of relevant professional experience, along with a Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Strong problem-solving abilities, adaptability to evolving business needs, and a commitment to continuous learning are essential. Prior experience managing complex projects, overseeing budgets, and leading initiatives from conception to completion is highly advantageous. Additionally, the candidate should exhibit leadership qualities, including the capacity to mentor junior staff and foster a positive, results-driven work environment.

A strong command of data management principles and digital tools is required to oversee student application data, monitor progress, generate reports, and navigate digital platforms with proficiency.
Proficient knowledge of universities in Africa and globally enables the identification of diverse academic pathways, ensuring students secure the most suitable programs to align with their educational goals.
Creative and event management expertise is essential for coordinating career fairs, workshops, and student enrichment initiatives, all of which play a pivotal role in expanding students’ perspectives.
A problem-solving mindset is essential for establishing a new university guidance function, effectively addressing challenges, managing a demanding schedule, and assisting families with limited familiarity in navigating the university application process.
