This role encompasses comprehensive oversight of the order lifecycle, including proposal evaluation, price negotiation, and supplier selection. Additionally, the position requires trend analysis, order follow-up, delivery verification, payment approval, and the maintenance of accurate records.
As part of this role, your primary duties will include overseeing project execution, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives, and maintaining high standards of quality. You will be responsible for coordinating team efforts, allocating resources efficiently, and monitoring progress to meet established deadlines. Additionally, you will serve as a liaison between stakeholders, facilitating clear communication and resolving any potential conflicts. Your role will also entail analyzing data to evaluate performance, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing strategic solutions to enhance operational efficiency. Collaboration with cross-functional teams will be essential to drive successful project outcomes and foster innovation.
Manage the procurement and logistics of all approved engineering and maintenance parts and equipment as required.
Coordinate with engineering stores to ensure the timely and high-quality procurement of spares and consumables, maintaining optimal reorder levels and lead times for the diverse inventory items. Consider factors such as part consumption rates, delivery terms, and clearance times in the acquisition process.
Coordinate the processing and shipment of spare parts for both domestic and international orders while keeping the plant engineer informed of progress and any relevant updates.
Collaborate with engineering suppliers to resolve inquiries or issues concerning deliveries, payments, shipping/procurement processes, and compliance standards, offering guidance to the plant engineer when needed.
Ensure all local and international orders are safely delivered as required.
Upon receipt of approved purchase requisitions—verified by the plant engineer’s signature from the chief storekeeper—conduct thorough research to obtain and evaluate quotations, including pro forma invoices.
Prepare petty cash (advance) vouchers, subject to the plant engineer’s approval, to facilitate cash purchases of urgent items, followed by reconciliation and tallying as needed.
Ensure timely follow-up with suppliers and contractors regarding checks and advance payments post-delivery or job completion, or in accordance with their specified terms, while maintaining strong professional relationships.
The engineering department’s procurement activities must remain aligned with the approved budget and financial estimates, with coordination and reporting to senior management as required.
Ensure the prompt availability of necessary parts and equipment to minimize operational disruptions, responding swiftly to any equipment or part needs to reduce downtime effectively.
Contribute actively to the attainment of both company-wide and engineering department objectives, ensuring meaningful involvement in key initiatives and outcomes.

Prepare and submit annual, quarterly, monthly, semi-annual, and weekly procurement plans to the plant engineer.
Must possess a bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field, along with a minimum of five years of professional experience in software development, preferably in a leadership or team lead capacity. Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or C++ is essential, as is familiarity with software development methodologies like Agile or Scrum. Strong problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills, and a collaborative mindset are required to thrive in this role.
A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering is required for this role.
A Diploma in Purchasing & Supplies Management or a CAPS professional qualification will be considered advantageous.
Experienced in procuring technical goods and services within a manufacturing environment.
Proven ability in negotiation, strong commercial acumen, and unwavering integrity are essential requirements for this role.
A minimum of five years of pertinent professional experience is required.
