The Clinical Officer will report directly to the Deputy Director of Human Resource Management, responsible for delivering clinical services to employees of the Institute and their dependents as required to support a healthy workforce.

Job Specifications

The officer’s role will encompass a comprehensive range of duties and responsibilities, including the following:

Overseeing the daily management and execution of clinic operations and activities is essential.

Developing the Clinic’s annual budget, operational work plan, and procurement strategy represents a key responsibility of the role.

Performing necessary minor surgical procedures as needed.

Ensuring employees and their dependents receive accurate medical care, this role involves conducting thorough patient histories, performing detailed examinations, diagnosing conditions, and providing suitable treatment recommendations.

Relevant personnel and their dependents are directed to appropriate care facilities to guarantee the provision of suitable treatment and care.

Monitoring and organizing the dispensing of prescribed medications and drugs to uphold established standards and procedures.

To safeguard the efficient allocation and preservation of medical supplies, we must prevent any undue loss, damage, or unnecessary expenditure of the Institute’s resources.

Responsibilities include authorizing invoices for delivered goods to confirm their accuracy, thereby validating that the billed amounts correspond precisely to the quantity and value of items received.

Responsibilities include reviewing and authorizing requisitions for pharmaceuticals, laboratory reagents, and other essential medical supplies to ensure seamless clinical operations.

The individual will be responsible for the accurate signing and verification of medical claims and reimbursements, ensuring all documentation adheres to established policies and regulatory standards.

Planning and conducting awareness sessions for staff on diverse health topics in collaboration with pertinent government entities to bolster employee understanding.

Providing guidance and support to staff regarding health concerns to mitigate any potential impact on workplace dynamics is essential.

Professional Rewriting:
Performing health surveys to assess the prevalence of alcohol, drug, and substance abuse among employees, thereby determining the extent of the issue and supporting informed decision-making for subsequent interventions.

Responsible for implementing and overseeing appropriate procedures to manage and dispose of hazardous waste, thereby preventing environmental contamination and reducing the risk of accidents.

Compiling clinical reports in accordance with the guidelines established by the Ministry of Health constitutes a key responsibility of this position.

Responsible for managing and coordinating the duty roster for clinic staff members.

Person Specifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet the following criteria:

A recognized institution must confer a Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Medicine and Surgery or an equivalent qualification.

A recognized institution must award a minimum of a C+ (Plus) grade in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) or an equivalent qualification.

Registered with the Clinical Officers Council of Kenya as a licensed practitioner.

A current and active professional license issued by the Council on Chiropractic (COC) is required.

A diploma or certification in computer applications is required.

Ensure adherence to the provisions outlined in Chapter Six of the Constitution.
