Collaborate in the formulation and implementation of the Legal department’s strategic initiatives.

To stay abreast of legislative developments within Kenya, this role entails closely tracking and analyzing the regulatory landscape to ensure the organization remains compliant with all applicable legal obligations.

To ensure full compliance with applicable regulations and the governing regulatory framework, maintain an in-depth knowledge of current and emerging requirements while leading the creation and implementation of strategic solutions that effectively address and mitigate regulatory constraints for the business.

Management of all litigation matters initiated by or against the business in Kenya, as directed by the Head of Legal, including the development and implementation of strategic case approaches.

Provide assistance to the Head of Legal, Kenya, in overseeing entity management and ensuring adherence to best practices in corporate governance for the client’s entities in Kenya.

Engage collaboratively across diverse business functions to evaluate, track, and proactively address potential threats, thereby reducing legal exposure and safeguarding the successful attainment of organizational goals.

Draft, negotiate, and finalize contractual documents while establishing standardized formats to enhance operational efficiencies within the Legal sub-function.

Oversee essential administrative functions within the department to guarantee the provision of necessary resources, seamless information dissemination, and accurate record maintenance.

Maintain and enhance the control environment within the Legal department to align with the organization’s strategic objectives.

Effectively liaise across departments and within the organization to ensure all stakeholders remain informed while collaboratively resolving shared challenges.

Demonstrates exceptional leadership qualities, guiding teams with vision and decisiveness to achieve organizational goals. Educational Requirements, Professional Experience, and Key Competencies:

Obtaining a distinguished legal qualification from a reputable academic institution, coupled with the proven ability to deliver precise legal counsel to internal stakeholders, is essential.

At minimum, candidates must possess three to four years of legal practice experience after qualification.

Professional candidates should possess a minimum of two to three years of experience working in high-pressure environments within legal firms.

Proven track record in managing litigation matters with a strong understanding of legal processes and procedures. Demonstrates expertise in coordinating with legal teams, ensuring compliance with deadlines, and maintaining meticulous documentation throughout proceedings. Proficient in analyzing case details, assessing risks, and developing strategic responses to support litigation strategy.

Ideally, candidates should possess prior experience in corporate secretarial practices and governance-related board affairs, specifically with CPSK qualifications.

A comprehensive understanding of pertinent local substantive and procedural laws within the scope of responsibility is required, including but not limited to Commercial Law, labor regulations, land legislation, factory and manufacturing compliance standards, and Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) requirements.

Skilled in negotiating effectively and communicating clearly, both in writing and verbally, are essential.

Proven capability to leverage sophisticated strategic thinking, advanced analytical abilities, and sound judgment in decision-making processes.
