Job Description
You will spearhead the creation and execution of a cohesive Global Affairs strategy tailored for Kenya, our primary Sub-Saharan market and a pivotal influencer in the continent’s digital economy. Operating at this pivotal maturity phase, you will serve as the on-the-ground strategic leader, ensuring the protection of Glove’s business model amid a growing array of regulatory challenges.
The Global Affairs team consists of three key departments: Government Relations, PR & Social Media, and Impact & Sustainability. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in influencing public policy to align with our strategic business goals, proactively identifying legislative and regulatory shifts, and cultivating our corporate image across media channels. Additionally, you will champion our interests to foster a supportive operational landscape for the company. Your responsibilities will extend to expanding our social media presence nationwide, working in close partnership with the Marketing team.
You will drive our sustainability and social impact initiatives to amplify our positive influence while serving as a trusted advisor to all levels of Glove. In this role, you will ensure that all communications align consistently with the company’s purpose, vision, and mission.
Join a collaborative team environment where you will leverage your skills to contribute meaningfully to shared goals. You will have the opportunity to work alongside professionals dedicated to innovation and excellence, fostering a dynamic workplace where your expertise is valued. Your role will involve engaging in tasks that align with the company’s mission, ensuring both personal and organizational growth. Through teamwork and dedication, you will play a key part in driving projects forward and achieving collective success.
Define, oversee, and implement Glovo’s non-market strategy, encompassing public affairs initiatives, supported by targeted communication efforts, impact-driven projects, and sustainability programs, to enhance organizational success and strengthen corporate legitimacy.
Orchestrate local consultancies and, as needed, partner with think tanks, industry associations, and other pivotal stakeholders to develop and implement a comprehensive strategy.
Serve as the primary point of contact between multiple internal departments, including Marketing, Legal, and Operations, to foster cohesive cross-functional collaboration on strategic initiatives that tackle the nation’s most critical challenges while aligning with established business performance benchmarks and measurable outcomes.
Conduct comprehensive assessments to provide management with detailed insights into the local stakeholder landscape, highlighting regulatory, administrative, media, and social risks and opportunities while pinpointing key relationships for strategic engagement.
You will spearhead high-level engagement with senior stakeholders and pivotal policy dialogues, serving as Glove’s primary representative in all such interactions.
Devise and execute strategic budget planning and allocation to ensure optimal, scalable outcomes that drive meaningful impact.
Our role focuses on enhancing public relations communications and managing social media channels to bolster brand visibility and engagement. Key responsibilities include developing strategic PR campaigns, creating compelling content for various platforms, and monitoring brand sentiment across digital channels. Additionally, you will engage with stakeholders, media outlets, and the public to uphold the organization’s reputation and ensure consistent messaging. Strong writing skills, creativity, and a deep understanding of social media trends are essential for success in this position. Proficiency in analytics tools and prior experience in a similar role are required.
You will spearhead the development and implementation of external communication strategies, with a primary focus on elevating brand visibility, strengthening Glove’s public image, and driving business expansion across both Corporate and Consumer PR domains.
Strategically align and maintain cohesive messaging for Glovo in all media interactions, fostering enduring, high-value relationships with journalists, media organizations, and influential tech industry thought leaders throughout the region.
Develop engaging social media content tailored for Instagram and LinkedIn, while also exploring additional platforms frequented by Kenyan audiences.
Examine performance indicators from PR and social media initiatives to assess impact, guiding strategic refinements grounded in data to enhance overall results.
Crisis communications within the region are managed to ensure prompt and professional responses when required.
We are seeking a dynamic professional to drive meaningful environmental and social impact while ensuring sustainable business practices. The ideal candidate will develop and implement strategies that align with our sustainability goals, fostering long-term viability and responsible growth. Key responsibilities include assessing current operations, identifying opportunities for improvement, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate sustainable initiatives. Additionally, the role requires measuring and reporting on key performance indicators to track progress toward our sustainability targets. Strong analytical skills, a passion for sustainability, and the ability to influence stakeholders are essential. Experience in impact assessment, sustainability reporting, or related fields is preferred.
Identify strategic openings to develop and execute an ambitious Impact & Sustainability strategy that delivers meaningful transformation while minimizing adverse environmental and social impacts.
Develop and maintain strategic partnerships and a strong institutional presence to advance impact initiatives in alignment with Global Affairs objectives.
Leverage global toolkits and data sources to ensure the I&S strategy aligns with core business objectives and the global I&S plan, collaborating with the regional Africa Impact Lead and local teams to deliver results efficiently and swiftly. Additionally, identify and pursue innovative collaboration opportunities with local organizations to drive impact.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required. Proficiency in Python, Java, or C++ is essential, along with experience with data structures and algorithms. Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for learning are critical. Familiarity with databases, APIs, and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) is advantageous. Excellent communication abilities and teamwork are necessary for collaboration. Prior experience in a similar role is preferred but not mandatory.
Seeking candidates with a robust background of seven to ten years in Government Relations, Public Affairs, or Public Relations, demonstrating a proven track record in navigating complex stakeholder environments and influencing policy outcomes.
Professionals from diverse backgrounds—such as legal and corporate affairs, industrial relations, or the public sector—are encouraged to apply, including those contemplating a career transition.
You demonstrate a comprehensive grasp of Kenya’s intensely politicized landscape and leverage informal networks to effectively manage institutional relationships and address intricate governmental challenges.
You possess a dynamic creative skill set to oversee social media initiatives, orchestrate consumer campaigns led by influencers, and harness key business milestones to solidify Glove’s position as both an industry leader and a vital socioeconomic contributor.
Agile Crisis Management: In a high-pressure environment with stringent deadlines, you excel at making swift, well-informed decisions to address urgent regulatory changes, media controversies, or social media escalations.
You thrive in a hands-on, action-oriented role, embodying a proactive mindset akin to a startup founder. Your focus lies in executing critical tasks over delegating, demonstrating initiative by diving into challenges headfirst to protect and strengthen our business model each day.
Based in Nairobi, this role offers the flexibility to travel to any of our twelve operational cities as needed, requiring native or near-native fluency in English and outstanding interpersonal skills to excel in high-pressure engagements.
