Job Description

Cross Boundary is seeking a dedicated Junior Accountant to fill a full-time position within our Johannesburg, South Africa-based team.

The Junior Accountant will collaborate with the finance department to ensure precise financial documentation, execute transactional processes, and contribute to reporting initiatives spanning multiple entities. Suited for individuals in the early stages of their accounting career, this position offers an opportunity to develop robust technical competencies and broaden experience within international financial frameworks.

You will collaborate with the Finance and Operations Manager and the wider finance team to facilitate routine accounting functions while maintaining the integrity and timeliness of financial data.

Who You Are

The preferred candidate will possess:

1–3 years of relevant accounting experience, including internships, is required.

A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline is required.

Professional Experience:
Proficiency with accounting software platforms such as Xero, Sage, or comparable systems.

Demonstrates exceptional precision and meticulousness, coupled with outstanding ability to prioritize and manage tasks effectively.

Demonstrates a proactive mindset and a strong desire to acquire new skills while actively seeking opportunities to contribute beyond assigned tasks.

Demonstrated capacity to prioritize and execute multiple assignments concurrently while consistently delivering results within established deadlines.

Proficient communication abilities and a cooperative disposition are essential for this role.

Professional qualification progress, such as a Chartered Accountant (CA[SA]), Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ARCA), or Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIA), is considered beneficial.

Primary Responsibilities

Support the precise recording and systematic coding of financial transactions within accounting frameworks.

Handle accounts payable and receivable functions, such as monitoring invoices and coordinating payment follow-ups.

Compile and support weekly payment processing activities to ensure accurate and timely disbursement of funds.

Responsibilities include managing the submission of bank statements and providing support for bank reconciliation processes.

Prepare monthly financial reports, such as income statements and balance sheets, as part of the accounting team’s responsibilities.

Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and maintain the integrity of the general ledger to ensure accurate financial reporting.

Examine and finalize employee expense reports for accuracy and compliance with company policies before submission for reimbursement.

Assist in the ongoing management and accuracy of the fixed asset register to ensure all company assets are properly recorded and tracked.

Assist with the development of cash flow monitoring and preliminary financial projections to support accurate financial planning and decision-making processes.

Assist the finance team throughout audit processes by collecting and compiling all necessary documentation to ensure compliance and accuracy.

Provide support in the preparation and submission of statutory filings while ensuring adherence to all applicable compliance regulations.

Provide support in ensuring accurate and well-structured financial documentation across various organizational entities.

Deliver comprehensive administrative assistance and perform specialized, as-needed tasks in support of the finance team’s operations.
