Position Summary:
The HIV Epidemiologist is responsible for delivering expert technical guidance and innovative leadership in HIV surveillance, epidemiological analysis, data modeling, and implementation science initiatives within Palladium Kenya’s health projects. This position facilitates the utilization of national and county-level HIV data, program evaluations, and analytical insights that inform policy decisions.

The role is situated at the Palladium Kenya office located in Nairobi.
Primary responsibilities include overseeing key operational tasks, ensuring compliance with established protocols, and maintaining high standards of efficiency and accuracy. The role entails coordinating cross-functional teams, managing project timelines, and delivering measurable results in alignment with organizational goals. Additionally, the position requires analyzing performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing strategic solutions to enhance productivity and process optimization. Candidates must demonstrate strong leadership, problem-solving capabilities, and proficiency in relevant tools and methodologies to execute these duties effectively.
Offer expert technical support in HIV epidemiological analysis, modeling, and the application of routinely gathered program and surveillance data.
Lead and foster the execution of implementation science, operational research, and program evaluation initiatives focused on HIV/TB services. Provide guidance and assistance to teams working on these critical activities to ensure their success.
Offer expert technical support to the Ministry of Health (MOH), the United States Government (USG), and relevant stakeholders regarding data modelling methodologies and comprehensive epidemiological evaluations.
Develop protocols, ensure data quality, and make determinations regarding ethics and nonresearch activities.
Craft comprehensive analytical deliverables, such as detailed reports, concise abstracts, scholarly manuscripts, impactful presentations, and concise policy briefs.
Develop and deliver training materials as part of capacity-building initiatives, and lead engaging stakeholder training sessions to enhance skill sets and knowledge.
Key qualifications encompass a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as business administration, finance, or accounting, along with a minimum of three years of progressive experience in financial analysis, reporting, or a closely related discipline. Proficiency in advanced Excel functions, financial modeling, and data visualization tools is essential, as is a solid grasp of GAAP standards and financial regulations. Candidates must demonstrate strong analytical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to interpret complex financial data to provide actionable insights. Excellent communication abilities are required to collaborate effectively with stakeholders and convey financial information clearly. Prior experience with ERP systems or financial software platforms is highly preferred.
An advanced degree, specifically at the Master’s level or higher, in a discipline such as Epidemiology, Public Health, Statistics, Health Systems, or a closely related field is required.
Professional candidates must possess a minimum of five years of hands-on experience in public health research, evaluation methodologies, or implementation science, with a strong preference for expertise in HIV and TB-related initiatives.
A robust publication history within peer-reviewed journals is essential, with a preference for first-author contributions.
Proven proficiency with epidemiological and statistical analysis tools, including but not limited to State, R, SAS, SPSS, and Python.
Proficiency in utilizing Kenya’s National Data Warehouse or comparable large-scale health data systems constitutes an additional asset for this role.
Proven ability to engage stakeholders effectively, demonstrate strong leadership, and produce high-quality technical documentation is essential.
Proficient written and verbal communication skills in English are required.
