The Global Technical Lead (GTL) will spearhead the delivery of expert technical assistance for a multi-country initiative aimed at strengthening digital skills and employment prospects for young individuals with disabilities. Additionally, this key position will advocate for enhanced workplace and labor market disability inclusion across seven nations in East, West, and Southern Africa.

The GTL will align the program’s design and execution with Sight savers’ thematic and program strategies, spearheading the development of innovative, inclusive methodologies to foster systemic transformation and lasting, sustainable impact.

This is a full-time, on-site position requiring the successful candidate to work from the Sight savers office in either Abuja, Accra, Lusaka, or Nairobi, five days each week.

Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of projects to ensure alignment with organizational objectives, managing resources efficiently while maintaining strict adherence to timelines and budgets. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify key priorities, allocate tasks effectively, and foster a productive work environment that encourages innovation and problem-solving. Conduct regular performance assessments to monitor progress, address challenges proactively, and implement corrective measures to optimize outcomes. Serve as the primary liaison for stakeholders, communicating updates, gathering feedback, and ensuring transparency throughout the project lifecycle. Additionally, contribute to the development of policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency and compliance with industry standards.

Provide high-level technical guidance to a cross-regional initiative aimed at enhancing digital competencies and employment opportunities for young individuals with disabilities, while simultaneously promoting disability inclusion in workplaces and labor markets throughout East, West, and Southern Africa.

Work collaboratively with Global Technical Leads and implementing partners to ensure unified, high-impact delivery of program objectives.

Lead the development and implementation of pioneering strategic initiatives that elevate the quality, pertinence, and sustainability of Sight savers’ mission-driven efforts.

Collaborate on interdepartmental initiatives spanning research, innovation, policy development, advocacy, and communications, partnering with both internal colleagues and external stakeholders to drive collective impact.

Serving as a senior representative for Sight savers, you will leverage your expertise in digital inclusion and the digital economy to engage with national, regional, and international networks, conferences, and sector platforms.

The position may require travel for up to 12 weeks annually.

They will serve as a strategic partner, leveraging experience in cross-functional collaboration across global teams and regions. This position requires international travel, totaling up to 12 weeks annually, to advance program execution and foster stakeholder relationships.

The ideal candidate must meet specific qualifications and possess relevant experience to excel in this role. Essential requirements include a degree in a related field, along with a minimum of [X] years of hands-on experience in a comparable position. Seasoned professionals with a proven track record in designing, implementing, and scaling programs focused on digital skills’ enhancement, workforce readiness, and employment transition—particularly within the global South—are invited to apply.

Individuals should possess prior experience collaborating within non-governmental or non-profit organizations, with a particular emphasis on overseeing programs funded by donors.

Possesses a demonstrated capability to collaborate effectively with diverse labor market stakeholders, with a particular emphasis on partnerships with the private sector, to enhance employment prospects and promote decent work standards.

Demonstrates a comprehensive grasp of emerging trends in AI and digital technologies, along with their transformative effects on employment and labor markets across African and Global South contexts.

Excellent spoken and written English, with the ability to produce detailed reports and deliver presentations.

Analytical and strategic thinking abilities are essential, enabling the planning and execution of initiatives from both programmatic and organizational viewpoints.

Proven ability to lead teams effectively, foster strong professional networks, and engage stakeholders with diplomacy and tact.

Experience working on TVET systems.

Demonstrated success in collaborating with key tripartite labor market stakeholders—particularly private sector entities within digital industries—to enhance employment opportunities and promote decent work standards.

Demonstrates a strong capacity for cross-departmental collaboration and thrives in diverse team settings.

With a proven track record in designing, refining, and implementing technical guidance documentation and programming utilities, you will leverage your expertise to enhance existing frameworks and deliver scalable solutions.
