Compiling, evaluating, and synthesizing existing research on the origins, underlying factors, and transmission mechanisms of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in Tunisia.

Prepare a comprehensive work plan for the consultancy initiative, incorporating a strategic engagement strategy aimed at key stakeholders to ensure alignment and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.

Field surveys must be conducted to assess potential contamination by resistant germs, including wastewater from slaughterhouses, swimming pools, healthcare facilities, rivers adjacent to livestock farms, water from high-traffic beaches, gardening areas, poultry manure, ruminant manure, fish farming systems, and aquaponics breeding environments.

Gather and synthesize existing data regarding the contamination and characterization of diverse environmental compartments by resistant microorganisms.

Investigate the origins and dissemination patterns of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) within environmental contexts, with a focus on identifying and assessing high-risk sectors.

Provide expert technical guidance and recommendations to support national AMR (antimicrobial resistance) management initiatives.

A comprehensive diagnostic report is required to assess the current environmental antimicrobial resistance (AMR) situation in Tunisia, with emphasis on identifying critical risks, addressing knowledge deficiencies, and proposing strategic recommendations for urgent interventions.

Identify knowledge and data deficiencies, then formulate operational or research measures to bridge these gaps. Subsequently, compile these solutions into a pragmatic, prioritized roadmap for submission to the government upon completion of the workshop.

The role involves delivering clear, strategic communications to ensure the dissemination of compiled knowledge reaches intended audiences effectively.

Participate in the national workshop, presenting the relevant outputs of the studies.

Facilitate meaningful discussions and exchanges during the workshop to help identify knowledge gaps and inform the analysis.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required, along with a minimum of three years of experience in software development or a comparable technical role. Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or C++ is essential, alongside expertise in software design principles and system architecture. Strong problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills, and the capacity to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams are also necessary. Familiarity with agile methodologies, version control systems (e.g., Git), and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) is preferred. Additionally, prior experience in leading technical projects or mentoring junior developers would be advantageous.

An advanced university degree, specifically a master’s degree or equivalent qualification, in microbiology, environmental health, environmental management, environmental science, or a closely related discipline is mandatory.

Two years of relevant professional experience may substitute for the required university degree.

A minimum of two years of hands-on professional experience in environmental policy, public health, or a closely related discipline is essential.

We seek candidates with a demonstrated track record in antimicrobial resistance, with particular emphasis on environmental factors including pollution, chemical exposure, waste management, and wastewater systems.

Required is demonstrated expertise in delivering technical and policy assistance across diverse, multidisciplinary, and multi-sectoral environments at global, regional, and/or national scales.

A proven ability to collaborate successfully with a wide range of stakeholders—such as government entities, UN agencies, the Quadripartite, private sector organizations, and international bodies—is highly preferred.
