To maintain the consistent functionality, upkeep, and repair of diesel generator sets (genets), thereby ensuring an uninterrupted power supply to operational facilities, equipment, and critical systems.

The incumbent is responsible for performing scheduled maintenance tasks to uphold equipment efficiency, mitigate potential failures, and ensure operational reliability. This role involves conducting routine inspections, identifying wear and tear, and promptly addressing any issues before they escalate into costly repairs or downtime. Additionally, the position requires maintaining detailed records of maintenance activities, adhering to safety protocols, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize equipment performance and longevity.

Perform planned preventive maintenance on generator sets in accordance with manufacturer specifications to ensure optimal operation and reliability.

Conduct thorough inspections focusing on oil levels, filter conditions, fuel system integrity, and electrical connection reliability to ensure optimal performance and safety.

Prepare and update meticulous maintenance logs and service records to ensure precise documentation of all activities and inspections performed.

Performs corrective maintenance to restore equipment or systems to proper operating condition following malfunctions or failures, diagnosing issues through systematic inspection and testing procedures. Evaluates repair needs, replaces or repairs defective components, and conducts functional checks to verify restored performance. Maintains detailed records of maintenance activities, including issues identified, actions taken, and outcomes achieved. Collaborates with operations teams to minimize downtime and ensure rapid restoration of service. Adheres to safety protocols and industry standards throughout all maintenance procedures.

Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on mechanical, electrical, and control systems.

Provide immediate responses to equipment failures to reduce operational interruptions.

Identify and replace faulty components, then verify that all repairs restore proper functionality.

Responsible for the on-site assembly, setup, and activation of equipment and systems, ensuring they meet specified performance criteria. Conducts thorough testing to verify functionality, adherence to design specifications, and compliance with safety protocols. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to resolve any operational discrepancies and provides detailed documentation of commissioning activities. Must possess strong technical proficiency, hands-on experience with relevant tools, and the ability to interpret technical manuals and schematics. Familiarity with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and troubleshooting methodologies is essential.

Provide support for the installation and commissioning phases of newly procured generators.

Conduct load testing and system evaluations to verify operational preparedness and performance reliability.

You will be responsible for overseeing system performance and ensuring data accuracy through continuous monitoring, compiling detailed reports to identify trends, and promptly alerting stakeholders to any anomalies or critical issues that may arise. This role requires strong analytical skills, proficiency in data analysis tools, and the ability to communicate findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences. Additionally, you will track key metrics, document incidents, and recommend improvements to enhance operational efficiency and mitigate risks.

Track and analyze Genet performance metrics, including voltage, frequency, and load levels, to ensure optimal operation.

Identify recurring faults and propose appropriate corrective measures.

Generate accurate daily and monthly reports detailing generator performance metrics.

Ensures adherence to safety regulations and compliance standards across all operational activities, conducting routine audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and mitigate risks. Reviews and updates policies, procedures, and training programs to align with evolving regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to implement corrective actions, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement in safety performance. Investigates incidents, near-misses, and non-compliance issues, documenting findings and recommending preventive measures to eliminate recurring risks. Serves as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies, providing documentation, reports, and responses to inquiries while ensuring full transparency and timely resolution of compliance matters.

Ensure strict compliance with established safety protocols and environmental standards at all times.

Proper management and disposal procedures must be followed for all fuels and lubricants to ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations.

Ensure adherence to all company Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies and procedures at all times.

Responsible for overseeing the acquisition, organization, maintenance, and tracking of inventory and tools, ensuring optimal availability and condition for operational needs. This role involves conducting regular audits to verify stock levels, identifying discrepancies, and coordinating replenishment or disposal of surplus items. Additionally, the position requires maintaining accurate records of tool usage, calibrations, and maintenance schedules to support efficiency and compliance with safety standards. Strong attention to detail and proficiency in inventory management systems are essential for executing these duties effectively.

Responsible for tracking inventory levels of spare parts and submitting requisitions to ensure timely replenishment when stock reaches predetermined thresholds.

Maintain workshop tools and equipment in proper working condition and ensure their appropriate use.

Profile

A diploma or certificate in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering is required for this position.

Minimum of two years’ experience in the maintenance and repair of generators is required.

Proven expertise in diesel engine systems and electrical circuit diagnostics is required. Candidates should possess hands-on experience with diesel power units and the ability to troubleshoot complex electrical components.

Familiarity with leading generator brands, such as Perkins, Cummins, and Caterpillar, is considered a plus.
