The Project Finance Officer plays a pivotal role in enhancing financial management, ensuring regulatory compliance, and strengthening the financial capacity of CBM’s partner network. This position involves overseeing project finances, managing financial risks, and conducting thorough monitoring and reporting for partners, while also aligning project execution with CBM’s policies throughout the finance cycle. You will be responsible for managing a portfolio of projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget while meeting all specified requirements. Additionally, conduct thorough eligibility assessments and ensure proper accounting of all expenses.

Oversee financial reporting and ensure compliance with auditing standards. Conduct thorough reviews of financial statements to verify accuracy and adherence to regulatory requirements. Analyze internal controls and operational processes to identify risks and recommend improvements. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to facilitate audit engagements and resolve discrepancies. Maintain meticulous documentation and support external auditors during examinations. Provide strategic insights based on audit findings to enhance governance and operational efficiency.

Review project financial reports—both quarterly and annual—to confirm accurate reconciliation with bank statements and project accounts, facilitate seamless monitoring visits, assist the Project Officer in evaluating budgets against actual expenditures, and assess financial forecasts in coordination with the Project Officer.

Coordinate internal and external audits for partner projects in collaboration with the designated Product Owner (PO) and Compliance Director (CD). Ensure adherence to audit protocols and regulatory standards while facilitating communication between stakeholders to address findings and implement corrective actions efficiently.

Prepare draft terms of reference for the selection of auditors and facilitate the timely recruitment of qualified audit professionals.

Ensure thorough follow-through on the execution of intricate audit recommendations concerning accounting, legal, and tax compliance.

Upon completing the work, finalize audit action items by carefully evaluating the results.

Ensures adherence to regulatory standards and mitigates organizational risks through the development and implementation of robust compliance frameworks, policies, and procedures. Conducts thorough risk assessments, identifies potential vulnerabilities, and recommends mitigation strategies to safeguard company assets and maintain operational integrity.
