Our client seeks a skilled Bookkeeping Officer for a full-time position in Nairobi County, Kenya, offering a hybrid work model with partial remote flexibility. The role encompasses the meticulous maintenance of financial records, including the preparation and posting of journal entries, ledger updates, and account reconciliations. The Bookkeeping Officer will contribute to the development of financial statements, monitor income and expenditures, and facilitate monthly, quarterly, and annual closing procedures. Additional duties involve overseeing invoices, receipts, and payments, ensuring adherence to internal controls and statutory regulations, and leveraging accounting software to produce management reports. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, addressing finance-related inquiries, and optimizing bookkeeping processes for enhanced efficiency and precision are also key responsibilities.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required, along with a minimum of five years of professional experience in software development. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++ is essential, along with expertise in cloud computing platforms like AWS or Azure. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment are also necessary. Additionally, familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile methodologies is preferred.

Accomplished in maintaining precise and orderly financial records through proficient bookkeeping and journal entry expertise in accounting.

Demonstrated ability to compile, analyze, and present financial statements and associated documentation with precision and clarity.

Proficiency in utilizing accounting software and a solid grasp of fundamental finance principles are required.

A degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline is required, with professional credentials such as CPA or ARCA considered advantageous.

Demonstrates meticulous attention to detail, exceptional numerical and analytical proficiency, and a steadfast commitment to integrity and confidentiality.

Proficient in balancing independent and collaborative work within a hybrid environment, with a keen aptitude for time management and effective communication.

Proficiency in Kenyan accounting standards, tax regulations, and statutory reporting requirements is considered advantageous.
