Reporting to the Branch Manager, the Finance Assistant will manage Branch credit reports, reconcile debtors’ accounts, process receipts, handle banking transactions, and oversee petty cash operations.

Oversee the execution of critical tasks and ensure alignment with organizational objectives, managing day-to-day operations with precision. Collaborate cross-functionally to drive project milestones and foster innovation through structured planning and resource allocation. Monitor performance metrics to identify gaps, implement corrective measures, and optimize workflows for sustained efficiency. Serve as a liaison between leadership and teams to streamline communication and uphold accountability at all levels. Ensure adherence to compliance standards while guiding strategic initiatives to achieve long-term growth and operational excellence.

Contribute to the execution of the company’s credit control policy by assisting in its implementation.

Each month, prepare and dispatch commission and debtor’s statements, while addressing and resolving incoming inquiries related to outstanding accounts from intermediaries.

Ensure that reminders are applied to accounts to facilitate the timely repayment of debts and to guarantee complete follow-through by the involved intermediaries.

Responsibilities include facilitating the referral of outstanding debts to external collection agencies, overseeing the initiation and management of legal proceedings where necessary, and submitting relevant information to the Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).

Facilitate the systematic monthly debiting of premiums to ensure consistent collection.

Tracking and following up on long-outstanding debtors, and where feasible, determining their capacity to settle outstanding balances;

Responsible for monitoring and addressing any bounced checks, promptly contacting clients to request replacements as required, and submitting a comprehensive monthly report on these activities.

Verify remittances, including RTGS, EFT, and IPS, and ensure prompt receipting within a 24-hour timeframe. Additionally, oversee daily receipting processes and the banking of all premiums received to maintain accurate financial records and efficient operations.

Conduct visits and telephone communications with intermediaries to ensure timely collections and reconciliations, then compile and submit a weekly progress report summarizing the findings.

Who We’re Looking For

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline is required for this position.

Progress towards obtaining a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ARCA), or Certificate in Credit Control Management qualification is essential.

Requires a minimum of two years of hands-on experience in a related field.
