Position Summary

The Field Merchandising Representative (FMR) will report to the Team Leader – Merchandising and be tasked with carrying out merchandising activities, optimizing shelf visibility, and guaranteeing stock availability across designated outlets. Additionally, the role involves administering returns governance and collecting market intelligence to support strategic decision-making. Serving as the primary operational liaison for the company, the FMR will represent the brand directly within the retail environment.

Execute a broad spectrum of critical duties and tasks, including but not limited to overseeing daily operations, managing team performance, and ensuring adherence to company policies and industry regulations. Collaborate with cross-functional departments to drive project completion, maintain high standards of quality, and deliver exceptional service to clients. Analyze operational metrics to identify trends, implement improvements, and optimize efficiency across workflows. Prepare comprehensive reports, presentations, and strategic recommendations for senior leadership, highlighting key insights and actionable solutions. Responsible for optimizing product placement and ensuring shelves are consistently stocked, aligned with brand standards, and visually appealing to drive sales and enhance the customer experience. Collaborates with retail teams to execute phonogram updates, conducts regular inventory assessments to identify out-of-stocks or overstocks, and maintains accurate records of stock levels and merchandising performance. Requires proficiency in retail merchandising tools, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines.

Guarantee the accurate merchandising and presentation of products throughout designated retail locations.

Consistently uphold the established shelf visibility and implementation benchmarks to ensure optimal product presentation and compliance with company standards.

Organize merchandise in strict adherence to approved nanograms and merchandising standards to ensure consistent presentation and compliance with brand guidelines.

Maintain products in a clean state, ensure they are properly arranged, fully visible, and placed in the correct positions.

Verify that point-of-sale systems and promotional materials remain correctly positioned and in optimal condition at all times.

Analyze competitor presence, pricing strategies, and shelf stock fluctuations to identify market trends and opportunities.

Responsible for overseeing stock levels, ensuring accurate tracking of inventory, and maintaining optimal rotation to prevent obsolescence or expiration. Monitor supply chain processes to align with demand forecasts and reduce excess stock. Implement efficient stock rotation practices, including the FIFO (First In, First Out) method, to uphold product quality and minimize waste. Generate reports on stock movements, discrepancies, and inventory turnover to support data-driven decision-making. Collaborate with procurement and warehouse teams to streamline replenishment cycles and maintain alignment with business objectives.

Monitor inventory levels vigilantly and ensure timely escalation of any instances where stock levels fall below acceptable thresholds.

Maintain rigorous adherence to FIFO (First-In-First-Out) stock rotation protocols to safeguard inventory integrity.

Assess inventory with approaching expiration dates and promptly escalate any concerns.

Inspect shelves to identify and remove any stock that is damaged or past its expiration date, adhering strictly to established company protocols.

Analyze outlet stock levels according to movement patterns to ensure optimal inventory management.

Manages the oversight and administration of returns processes while ensuring compliance with established governance frameworks.

Ensure that all outlet returns are verified and documented with precision and thoroughness.

Verify that Goods Return Notes (GRNs) are accurately prepared, including all necessary supporting documentation.

Physically inspect all returned items prior to their collection to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Promptly report any returns that appear suspicious or lack a clear explanation without delay.

Assist in reconciling and ensuring accountability throughout the returns’ management process, including the review, tracking, and resolution of returned items to maintain accuracy and compliance.

Responsible for overseeing and nurturing strategic partnerships with key retail outlets, this role focuses on cultivating strong, mutually beneficial relationships to drive sales and enhance brand visibility. The position requires a blend of interpersonal skills and commercial acumen to negotiate agreements, resolve disputes, and ensure consistent performance across all partner locations. Strong analytical capabilities are essential for evaluating outlet performance, identifying growth opportunities, and implementing targeted initiatives. Additionally, the role involves collaborating with internal teams—including marketing, sales, and logistics—to align strategies and optimize operational efficiency. A proven track record in retail management or sales leadership, along with exceptional communication and problem-solving skills, is crucial for success in this position.

Foster collaborative professional relationships with outlet managers and receiving teams to ensure seamless operations.

Address routine customer inquiries and complaints regarding outlets, ensuring prompt resolution; escalate issues that remain unresolved to higher-level support or management for further action.

Facilitate seamless coordination throughout delivery operations and merchandising initiatives.

Ensures meticulous adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies through accurate reporting and comprehensive compliance oversight. Develops, implements, and maintains robust systems and processes to monitor and enforce compliance across all operational areas. Collaborates closely with leadership and department heads to interpret and apply evolving legal and industry standards. Conducts periodic audits and risk assessments to identify gaps and recommend corrective measures. Prepares detailed reports for stakeholders, highlighting key compliance metrics and potential areas of concern.

Record all on-site activities utilizing approved merchandising systems and reporting tools.

Compile and submit accurate merchandising, stock, attendance, and market intelligence reports in a timely manner.

Conduct field audits, verification initiatives, and operational investigations as needed to ensure compliance and accuracy.

Maintain adherence to organizational operational policies, hygiene protocols, and product handling requirements to uphold quality and safety standards.

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as accounting, finance, or business administration, along with a minimum of five years of progressive accounting experience. Must demonstrate proficiency in financial reporting, budget preparation, and variance analysis. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail are essential, as is the ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders. Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills are preferred.

Holders of a GCSE Certificate are required for this position.

A qualification such as a Certificate or Diploma in Sales, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related discipline would be considered advantageous.

Minimum of one to two years of professional experience is required in merchandising, FMCG sales support, retail operations, or field execution.

Proficiency in handling supermarket chains, key accounts, or contemporary retail outlets is highly advantageous.

Proficiency with mobile merchandising or field reporting systems would be beneficial.

Proven expertise in specialized abilities and essential proficiencies required for the role, along with demonstrated strengths in key areas of performance.
