What you’ll do:

As the University Guidance Counselor, you will be instrumental in charting students’ academic and career trajectories by providing expert navigation through the university admissions landscape and equipping them with the tools necessary for future achievements. Your primary duties will encompass overseeing the university application process, offering strategic advice, and fostering an environment that cultivates student preparedness for higher education and beyond.

Guiding students through the entirety of the university application process, you will provide comprehensive support—spanning from the selection of suitable institutions to the acquisition of scholarships—while leveraging a deep knowledge of international pathways and the specific demands of the British Curriculum.

Collaborate effectively with educators, parents, school administrators, and academic departments to track student performance and provide well-informed recommendations.

Enhancing Extracurricular Opportunities: Design and implement initiatives to broaden students’ academic engagement while coordinating career-focused activities, including seminars, hands-on workshops, and personalized advisory sessions.

You will cultivate and oversee partnerships with universities, with a particular focus on institutions in Africa and other international locations, while also administering university application platforms and digital resources.

With a focus on strengthening connections, cultivate a vibrant alumni network that empowers both current students and graduates to thrive academically and advance professionally.

A strong background in university guidance, teaching, or the broader education sector is crucial, as it equips professionals with the insight needed to address students’ academic requirements and deliver comprehensive support throughout the university application journey.

A solid understanding of the British Curriculum is essential for providing students with the necessary support within the DISC framework and for guiding them toward appropriate university pathways.

Excellent communication and presentation abilities are essential to craft compelling recommendation letters, counsel students and parents effectively, cultivate strong partnerships with educators and universities, and foster a positive rapport within the school community.

A strong command of data management and digital tools is essential for efficiently managing student application data, monitoring progress, generating reports, and leveraging digital platforms effectively.

Possesses knowledge of African and international universities, enabling students to explore a diverse array of academic options and identify institutions that best align with their educational goals.

Proficient in creative and event management, with a strong ability to plan and execute career fairs, workshops, and student enrichment activities designed to expand participants’ horizons and foster diverse perspectives.

A problem-solving mindset is essential for establishing a new university guidance function, effectively addressing challenges, managing a demanding schedule, and assisting families with limited familiarity with the university application process.
