Job Objective

The incumbents will serve primarily as permanent, pensionable teaching faculty while undertaking the role of Dean of School under a three-year contract subject to renewal. Reporting to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academics, Research, and Student Affairs, they will be tasked with the following responsibilities:

Oversee a comprehensive range of duties and tasks, ensuring all operational objectives are met with precision and efficiency. Serve as a key contributor to team projects, collaborating closely with colleagues to achieve shared goals. Responsible for executing assignments within established deadlines, while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance with organizational protocols. Address immediate operational challenges promptly, implementing solutions to minimize disruptions and enhance productivity. Assist in the development and refinement of processes to improve workflow and team performance. Serve as a resource for colleagues, providing guidance and support to foster a collaborative and results-driven environment.

Developing and implementing strategic plans to guide the School’s future direction and ensure alignment with its mission and objectives.

Responsible for supervising instructional delivery and assessment processes, guaranteeing that courses are delivered punctually, thoroughly, and in full compliance with established standards, while maintaining the integrity of all examinations.

Responsibilities include monitoring and recording class attendance for both students and staff members.

Effectively overseeing the strategic planning, allocation, and management of resources—both human and physical—to ensure optimal utilization and alignment with organizational objectives.

The position focuses on maintaining and enhancing the School’s long-term viability by improving student retention, ensuring cohort completion, increasing progression rates, and expanding the student population.

Driving forward groundbreaking research and fostering a culture of innovation within the School.

Overseeing and motivating grant and proposal development initiatives within the School.

Developing and maintaining strategic alliances and collaborative relationships within the industry.

Spearheading the School’s internationalization initiatives, encompassing the expansion of program portfolios, diversification of student nationality demographics, and enhancement of global exposure for both students and staff via structured exchange programs.

Providing exceptional customer service to students and staff, you will be responsible for addressing and resolving their inquiries and concerns in a prompt and efficient manner.

Effectively overseeing and directing a team, encompassing responsibilities such as evaluating performance, monitoring work attendance, managing leave requests, and addressing disciplinary matters to ensure optimal productivity and team cohesion.

Programs are developed and reviewed under your guidance, ensuring offerings align with market demands and the School’s strategic growth initiatives.

Enforcing and upholding the policies established by the University is a key responsibility of this role. Ensuring adherence to institutional guidelines and framework is essential to maintaining organizational integrity and consistency across all operations.

Crafting initiatives to consistently enhance graduate employability remains a key focus, ensuring students are well-prepared for the workforce.

Performs additional tasks and responsibilities as directed by the supervisor.

Seeking a highly skilled professional with a strong academic background and relevant work experience in a related field. The ideal candidate must possess a minimum of five years of hands-on experience, along with a bachelor’s or advanced degree in a pertinent discipline. Additionally, proficiency in industry-specific software tools and a proven track record of delivering measurable results are essential requirements for this role.

A relevant PhD, Master’s, or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Engineering, Educational Technology, or a closely related discipline from an accredited and recognized university is required.

A minimum of three years of university-level teaching and research experience as a Lecturer or Research Fellow is required.

Possesses a demonstrated record of scholarly contributions through publications in the capacity of a Lecturer or Research Fellow.

Demonstrated leadership and administrative expertise is essential. Candidates with prior roles such as Department Head or Chair, program leadership, postgraduate coordination, or other pertinent management positions will receive strong preference.

Oversaw the successful completion of at least two postgraduate students’ academic programs.

Secured external research funding as a Lecturer/Research Fellow;

Demonstrates a proven track record of active participation in academic conferences, seminars, or workshops, showcasing meaningful contributions to discussions and knowledge exchange.

Active engagement in departmental and school activities, meetings, student academic advising, and committee roles reflects a strong commitment to the university community.

Professional affiliation with an accredited industry organization is required.
