EMP/M&A Advisory: Partnering with regional leaders to spearhead the origination and execution of buy-side and sell-side advisory mandates, alongside restructuring advisory and EMP services across the Africa region.
Leading the origination and execution of strategic pre-IPO advisory mandates across five regions, this role involves close collaboration with teams to guide clients through listing processes, assess feasibility, determine optimal timing, navigate regulatory requirements, and address critical operational concerns. Responsibilities include evaluating and advising on corporate and balance sheet structures, valuation methodologies, and business planning strategies, as well as developing comprehensive timetables for listing timelines, broker selection, and prospectus preparation. Additionally, the position entails preparing executive leadership and board members for the listing process and providing advisory services related to corporate governance frameworks.
Relationship Management: Building and sustaining robust connections with internal teams across Africa’s regions and industry partners, with the goal of uncovering strategic collaboration opportunities to advance business growth and execution in alignment with IFC’s corporate objectives.
Client Engagement: Collaborating effectively with international clients and internal stakeholders to devise tailored transaction strategies, conduct comprehensive bankability evaluations, assess funding feasibility, and develop detailed financial models and business plans or restructuring initiatives.
Key Responsibilities Include: Preparing and reviewing transaction-related documentation, including marketing materials for each transaction, information memorandum, due diligence reports, transaction structuring documents, and all transaction contracts and agreements, among others.
Mentorship: Providing guidance and support to junior team members, facilitating their professional growth and assisting them in meeting business objectives.
Corporate Initiative: Enhancing IFC’s presence in the CFS sector by leveraging its regional brand and aligning with the broader communications strategy.
Selection Criteria
The ideal candidate should demonstrate proficiency in the following skills and experience requirements:
A Master’s degree or equivalent professional qualification in finance, business, law, or consulting is required, along with a minimum of 12–15 years of relevant experience. Candidates with a background that integrates one or more of these fields will be given preference.
With extensive expertise in equity transactions, having served in capacities such as a principal investor, advisor, or underwriter across investment banks, venture capital firms, and private equity institutions.
Transaction advisory professionals with expertise in buy-side mandates, sell-side mandates, and restructuring mandates—particularly within the disruptive technology sector—are sought after.
Proven ability to consistently achieve specific objectives in Mergers & Acquisitions, Restructuring, and Initial Public Offering mandates, even within demanding timelines and high-pressure conditions.
Consistently cultivates and sustains robust client partnerships while successfully managing mandates across international markets and challenging operational landscapes.
Experience with initial public offerings (IPOs) on prominent global stock exchanges, including the New York Stock Exchange and the London Stock Exchange, is highly advantageous.
