Role Context
The PR & Communications Associate will play a key role in advancing Prudential Kenya’s public relations and communications strategy by enhancing media engagement, producing premium content, facilitating internal communication efforts, organizing PR events, and contributing to crisis and reputational risk management initiatives.
This position will uphold and strengthen the Prudential brand by delivering precise, prompt, and compliant messaging across every internal and external interaction.
Principal Accountabilities
Handles media relations and public relations initiatives with strategic precision to enhance brand reputation and visibility. Cultivates and maintains relationships with journalists, editors, and influencers to secure favorable coverage. Develops and distributes press releases, media pitches, and thought leadership content to communicate key messages effectively. Monitors media trends, tracks coverage, and analyzes sentiment to inform strategic communications. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to align messaging and ensure consistency across all platforms. Manages crisis communications, providing timely responses and mitigating potential reputational risks. Leverages social media and digital platforms to amplify reach and engage target audiences. Compose, refine, and assist in promoting press releases, media statements, op-eds, and bylined articles to secure valuable earned media placements.
Facilitate the seamless coordination of media interviews by developing comprehensive briefing notes, crafting key messages, and compiling detailed Q&A documents for spokespeople.
Forge and cultivate strong professional connections with journalists, editors, and key media stakeholders across pertinent platforms.
Monitor media coverage on a daily basis, analyze sentiment trends, and identify emerging issues to promptly escalate any potential reputational risks for timely intervention.

Fluency in written English is required, while proficiency in Swahili would be considered a valuable asset.
Familiarity with financial services or insurance sector communication methodologies is beneficial.
