We seek a seasoned pension actuary to assume a senior position within our actuarial consulting team.

The ideal candidate will assume a pivotal position in overseeing pensions actuarial projects, cultivating client partnerships, approving actuarial reports, and fostering the expansion of our pensions advisory services.

An excellent opportunity exists for an Associate or Fellow actuary with deep pensions expertise to assume a prominent leadership position within an expanding advisory practice. The position will entail collaborating with diverse pension schemes, trustees, employers, regulatory bodies, and other key stakeholders on critical areas such as valuation, funding, risk management, governance, and strategic advisory engagements.

The ideal candidate is required to demonstrate robust technical actuarial expertise alongside keen commercial insight, exceptional client management abilities, and a proven capacity to guide and support junior team members.

As a Senior Pensions Actuary, you will be tasked with overseeing and executing a range of critical actuarial duties, including the evaluation of pension scheme liabilities, the development of financial models to project future obligations, and the provision of strategic guidance to optimize funding strategies. Additionally, you will lead the preparation and review of actuarial reports, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and delivering clear insights to stakeholders. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, such as finance, legal, and investment departments, will be essential to align pension schemes with organizational objectives. Strong analytical skills, proficiency in actuarial software, and a deep understanding of pension legislation will be required to excel in this role.

The primary duties and obligations encompass managing project timelines, coordinating cross-functional teams, and ensuring deliverables meet quality standards. Leading and overseeing pensions actuarial engagements, encompassing actuarial valuations, funding assessments, accounting disclosures, benefit evaluations, member calculations, and related advisory projects.

Responsibilities include meticulously examining and endorsing actuarial reports to verify technical precision, the quality of recommendations, and adherence to relevant professional and regulatory standards.

Delivering expert actuarial guidance to pension scheme trustees, sponsors, employers, and other key stakeholders.

Assisting clients with assessments related to pension scheme funding, risk mitigation, investment strategy, benefit design, liability management, and governance frameworks.

Serving as a primary point of contact for clients, providing expert guidance on pensions, actuarial science, and retirement planning, while fostering long-term trust and strategic partnerships.

Responsibilities include managing the full project lifecycle, from initial planning and budget allocation to resource management, billing, and collections, ensuring all client deliverables are completed punctually.

Conducting thorough evaluations of actuarial models, calculations, assumptions, methodologies, and the resulting report outputs is a key responsibility of this role.

Coaching, mentoring, and nurturing junior actuarial staff, while also facilitating technical training and skill enhancement initiatives.

Assisting in the expansion of the pensions actuarial practice through business development initiatives and the preparation of proposals.

Collaborating effectively with colleagues across various teams, including actuarial, administration, investments, consulting, and other business functions.

Assisting in the advancement of thought leadership, contributing to technical research initiatives, and enhancing internal methodologies and tools.

The preferred applicant must possess the following qualifications:

A recognized actuarial professional body must confer the Associate or Fellow qualification.

With a minimum of eight years of hands-on experience in pensions actuarial consulting or a similar pension advisory position, you will have demonstrated expertise in this specialized field.

Proficient in pension scheme valuations, funding mechanisms, accounting standards, benefit calculations, and actuarial reporting, with a solid technical foundation.

Experienced in evaluating actuarial reports, or prepared to assume signing authority with demonstrated readiness.

Demonstrates a robust knowledge of pension scheme governance, trustee advisory services, and key considerations for employers and sponsors.

Demonstrated expertise in fostering strong client relationships and translating complex technical concepts into clear, accessible language for high-level stakeholders.

Exceptional project management capabilities are required, demonstrated by the capacity to oversee numerous tasks concurrently, adhere to strict deadlines, and consistently meet or exceed client expectations.

Demonstrated capability in guiding, mentoring, and fostering the professional growth of actuarial students and junior team members.

Commercial acumen, encompassing a thorough understanding of revenue generation, billing precision, debt recovery, and profitability enhancement, is essential.
