We seek diligent Assistant Technicians to contribute to fiber optic cable splicing operations in both outdoor and indoor environments, including the creation, interpretation, and upkeep of splicing schematics and diagrams. Additionally, they will oversee outside plant activities near assigned work sites, document splicing and field details accurately, and assist in adhering to project schedules.
The Assistant Splicing Technician is responsible for executing precise splicing operations in fiber optic networks, ensuring optimal signal integrity and minimal loss. This role involves preparing cables, operating specialized splicing equipment, and performing fusion or mechanical splices with accuracy. Additionally, the technician inspects splices for quality assurance, troubleshoots connection issues, and maintains detailed records of completed work. Collaboration with senior technicians and adherence to safety protocols are essential to support efficient network deployment and maintenance. Proficiency in splicing techniques, familiarity with industry standards, and strong problem-solving skills are required.
Deliver comprehensive ground support to technicians engaged in fiber splicing operations, ensuring the proper construction of splice cases by performing essential tasks such as grounding, bonding, isolation, slack storage, and sealing.
Provide support to the splicing technician in conducting regular maintenance tasks.
Maintain accurate documentation and records of the network infrastructure.
Collaborate with cross-functional technical teams to deliver technical assistance and address network-related challenges.
To ensure site safety, identify and eliminate potential hazards or report them immediately before starting any work activities.
Ensure the tools provided to the team are kept in a clean and safe condition at all times.
Assigned duties may include additional responsibilities as they arise from time to time.
The Assistant Splicing Technician role requires a high school diploma or equivalent certification, along with prior experience in splicing operations or a related technical field. Proficiency in splicing equipment and tools is essential, as is a strong understanding of splicing techniques and industry standards. Candidates should possess excellent attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Familiarity with safety protocols and adherence to quality control measures are also necessary. Additionally, the position demands physical stamina, as it may involve lifting, climbing, or working in confined spaces. Holders of a diploma or certificate in telecommunications, electrical engineering, information technology, or any closely related discipline are encouraged to apply.
Requires at least a D+ grade in secondary school education, along with successful completion of Mathematics and English.
Possesses strong technical proficiency in electrical and telecommunication infrastructure systems.
Demonstrates strong analytical capabilities with the ability to interpret complex data and derive meaningful insights efficiently.
