KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical Actuarial Support: Perform or evaluate internal actuarial liability valuations for applicable insurance subsidiaries, alongside profitability and surplus analyses.

Responsibilities include examining the external actuaries’ report, coordinating with designated actuaries, and jointly developing the Financial Condition Report.

Conduct comprehensive profitability and experience analyses, along with other pertinent actuarial investigations, to provide data-driven insights for strategic business decisions.

Conduct comprehensive profitability assessments, including experience analyses and other pertinent actuarial evaluations, to provide crucial insights that guide strategic business decisions for Old Mutual.

Conduct solvency assessments for business units using a risk-based capital framework, incorporating solvency stress testing methodologies to evaluate financial resilience.

Financial Modeling: assist with financial modeling of business scenarios/projects to inform business decision making.

Strategy and Business Planning Support: assist with business planning financial projections and solvency projections for the Business Units. Perform stress and scenario analysis on the plan numbers.

Conduct reinsurance evaluations for Life Kenya subsidiaries to identify opportunities for enhancing reinsurance strategies and maximizing efficiency in current arrangements.

Presentation of findings and reports to corporate and subsidiary board committees is required. Board Papers, regulatory solvency reports, and valuation reports must be prepared.

Risk Management support involves collaborating with Life Business Units and the Risk Department to identify and quantify various risks, including insurance, market, and credit risks, as applicable. The role entails devising appropriate risk mitigation strategies tailored to the Business Units and establishing a comprehensive risk register within the CUBA Risk System.

Create, develop, and implement tailored investment strategies, or evaluate and oversee existing strategies, for Old Mutual Life business entities.

Performs additional responsibilities as directed by management, including tasks deemed appropriate and necessary.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

IFRS17 Knowledge

Familiar with the current Insurance regulations, Capital markets and Central Bank regulations

Strong actuarial technical skills

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor of Actuarial Science or other related finance or mathematics degree

Minimum 5 years actuarial experience

Actuarial Knowledge: Show progress with actuarial examinations, Minimum 7 papers from a recognized actuarial body
