Finance employees are tasked with receiving, accounting for, monitoring, and establishing internal controls to safeguard Church funds—donated in confidence in accordance with divine principles—for the religious mission under the guidance of senior ecclesiastical leaders. This role represents an entry-level professional accounting position where the incumbent applies accounting principles to specialized records and reports, while supporting the daily upkeep of a comprehensive and accurate general ledger and generating essential financial reports.

Responsibilities

Compiling journal entries along with necessary adjustments represents a key responsibility in this role.

Initiating comprehensive general ledger file maintenance, conducting thorough account reconciliations and reviews, and resolving outstanding ledger items are key responsibilities of this role.

Review expenditures to ensure alignment with the approved budget, perform detailed reconciliations, conduct thorough investigations into discrepancies, and process correcting entries as needed.

Compiling diverse financial projections and expense documentation to support organizational decision-making processes constitutes a key component of this role.

The incumbent will conduct thorough audits of project accounts to ensure adherence to established policies and procedures. Additionally, they will communicate with relevant stakeholders regarding the progress and status of these projects, providing clear and timely updates as necessary.

Assisting in the development and guidance of priesthood leaders, along with providing mentorship to junior accountants, are key responsibilities of this role.

Seeking a candidate with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, complemented by proven experience in software development. Proficiency in multiple programming languages, such as Java, Python, or C++, is essential, along with a strong background in algorithms and data structures. Familiarity with web development frameworks like React or Angular is highly desirable. The ideal applicant should demonstrate excellent problem-solving abilities, effective communication skills, and a capacity for collaborative teamwork. Additional requirements include prior involvement in full-stack development projects and a solid understanding of version control systems such as Git.

A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business management, with a specialization in financial accounting, is required.

Professional certification and active membership in recognized professional organizations, including but not limited to CPA(K), ARCA, and CISA, are required.

Incumbents are required to possess a comprehensive understanding of the accountant code of conduct and exhibit a solid foundation in financial and accounting theory as well as policies. Additionally, they must demonstrate familiarity with generally accepted accounting principles.

Minimum four to six years of professional accounting experience is required.

Proven expertise in operating computerized accounting systems is essential for this role.

Proficiency in computer applications, particularly Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft PowerPoint, is essential. Extensive hands-on experience with these tools is required. Familiarity with Oracle or People soft systems is highly advantageous.
