Job Overview:
SHOCK is seeking a community-focused, grassroots professional to provide wraparound support ensuring Kenya’s most vulnerable girls enroll, attend, and thrive in school. The Scholarship Coordinator will oversee and manage SHOCK’s scholarship program, driving re-enrollment efforts in one of five target counties while serving as on-the-ground support for scholarship recipients. This role will act as a liaison between SHOCK, schools, scholars, and families, fostering strong, authentic relationships to identify and comprehensively support scholarship recipients. Embedded within SHOCK’s Urban Network (SUN) community organizing model, the position will uphold a grassroots-based approach to scholar identification and support.
Key Responsibilities and Duties Include:
Overseeing and executing critical operational tasks to ensure organizational objectives are met, with a focus on efficiency and precision. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to align strategies and streamline processes, while maintaining clear communication channels to facilitate seamless coordination. Monitoring performance metrics and implementing data-driven improvements to enhance productivity and meet established targets. Leading project initiatives from inception to completion, assigning roles, and ensuring adherence to timelines and quality standards. Providing mentorship and guidance to team members to foster professional growth and maintain high standards of accountability.
Develop and maintain robust partnerships within the Scholar Support Ecosystem to foster collaboration and alignment.
Collaborate closely with SUN Committees to partner with public school leadership, including principals and bursars, ensuring seamless and efficient onboarding for new members as well as ongoing support for scholarship recipients.
Collaborate with the SUN and Gender department to assess and identify students who satisfy the eligibility requirements for assistance.
Work in partnership with the Scholarship Officer, SUN facilitators, and Gender team to provide mentorship and school holiday programming, with a primary focus on overseeing all logistical arrangements.
Facilitate open communication with families to empower them in supporting scholars’ academic growth and emotional development, clarifying their vital role in mentorship.
Develop and nurture strategic alliances with community-based organizations and governmental bodies that serve at-risk young females, such as adolescent mothers, to establish and expand collaborative efforts aimed at scholar recruitment and comprehensive support programs.
Expertly led Case Management initiatives while prioritizing Scholar Welfare and wellbeing, ensuring holistic support and development for all participants throughout their academic journey.
Implement policies and initiatives aimed at enhancing the welfare and wellbeing of scholars, while providing mentorship and guidance to scholarship recipients as required.
Continuously collaborate with parents, guardians, and beneficiaries to guarantee student enrollment and keep them apprised of any developments, while promptly elevating concerns to the Scholarship Officer for resolution.
Proactively detect and highlight students who may be at risk of academic disengagement or require psychosocial assistance.
Meet with incoming scholarship recipients and their families to facilitate their integration into scholarship initiatives and familiarize them with program guidelines and expectations, ensuring they are fully prepared to commence their academic journey.
Partner with SUN committees to drive and sustain community ownership and accountability across all initiatives.
Escalate cases requiring further attention to the Gender team as necessary.
Monitor the integrity and performance of data systems, ensuring accurate collection, storage, and retrieval processes while providing timely technical assistance. Evaluate information flows to identify trends, discrepancies, or inefficiencies, and implement corrective measures as needed. Facilitate the development and maintenance of frameworks that enhance data quality, accessibility, and usability for analytical and reporting purposes. Offer comprehensive support to stakeholders by addressing queries, troubleshooting issues, and guiding users on best practices for data management. Additionally, contribute to the design and refinement of monitoring, evaluation, and learning systems to strengthen organizational decision-making and impact assessment.

Perform comprehensive data audits to ensure the integrity and currency of scholar records. Maintain accurate and current scholar data within the system.

Assist in gathering all essential data by conducting visits to both residences and educational institutions.
Organize and schedule in-home visits for scholars to ensure engagement and support.
Maintain a current and comprehensive Scholarship Database to ensure accurate and accessible information for all users.
