POSITION SUMMARY:
The Protection Associate will spearhead the delivery of structured case management services for refugees and asylum seekers experiencing psychosocial distress. This position emphasizes comprehensive assessment, customized case planning, strategic referrals, and diligent follow-up to guarantee individuals receive timely, confidential, and appropriate support. Additionally, the Associate will play a key role in enhancing integrated, client-centered case management systems within HIS programs, while integrating MHPSS principles into broader protection strategies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Perform comprehensive intake assessments and vulnerability screenings to determine client requirements, subsequently formulating tailored case plans.
Ensure that referrals to suitable services are made promptly, followed by consistent monitoring to track progress and evaluate outcomes.
Document all pertinent case details within the confidential case management system, ensuring strict adherence to data protection and privacy policies; compile and produce reports to facilitate informed programmatic decision-making.
Maintain and periodically update service mapping and referral pathways to facilitate integrated case management.
Proactively assess and evaluate individuals in need of specialized mental health services, ensuring timely and appropriate referrals to suitable care providers.
Incorporate foundational psychosocial support principles into case management practices to uphold a trauma-informed and client-centered methodology.
Engage in proactive outreach initiatives to locate individuals experiencing hardship and connect them with essential case management resources.
Facilitate the establishment and operation of community-led systems to securely identify and connect individuals requiring assistance with appropriate resources.
Facilitate mental health and psychosocial awareness initiatives designed to encourage proactive help-seeking behaviors while combating societal stigma surrounding mental health challenges.
Partner with protection teams to deliver unified, comprehensive assistance to at-risk individuals—such as survivors of violence, children facing protection threats, and those confronting other safeguarding challenges.
Foster strong, collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders, community organizations, and service providers to enhance and sustain efficient referral mechanisms.
Compile comprehensive reports that provide timely updates and precise data on case management activities, emerging trends, challenges encountered, and identified service gaps.
Analyze evolving client requirements and assist in enhancing program effectiveness and strategic response initiatives.
Ensure adherence to HIS policies regarding safeguarding measures, accountability to affected populations, and data protection protocols.
We facilitate the professional development and capacity enhancement of staff and community stakeholders through training initiatives focused on case management fundamentals, secure case handling protocols, and ethical best practices.
Execute additional tasks and responsibilities as delegated by management, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and operational needs.

A degree in psychology, sociology, social work, community development, or another closely related discipline is required.
Minimum: 1 to 2 years of hands-on experience delivering case management services, specifically within mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) or protection programming contexts.
Preferred candidates will have prior experience collaborating with refugees or other vulnerable populations, though this is not a strict requirement for the role.
Proficiency in case management principles, adherence to IAS MHPSS guidelines, and familiarity with safeguarding frameworks are required.
Proficiency in Accountability to Affected Population principles is required, ensuring that the needs, rights, and dignity of individuals impacted by crises are prioritized.
