Role Summary
The English Teacher will provide dynamic, inquiry-based instruction to cultivate students’ proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and critical analysis. This position requires the design and delivery of lessons aligned with the International Baccalaureate framework, the assessment of student progress through criterion-referenced methods, and the nurturing of a profound appreciation for language and literature. Additionally, the teacher will facilitate the holistic growth of students, encourage autonomous thought, and actively contribute to a cohesive, inclusive educational setting.
The role may also encompass Head of Department responsibilities, offering strategic leadership, overseeing curriculum development, and fostering ongoing enhancements in teaching and learning practices.

Design and implement rigorous English lessons that fully comply with the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Program (MYP) and Diploma Program (DP) academic requirements, ensuring an exceptional standard of instruction and student engagement.
Enhance students’ proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, listening, and literary analysis through targeted instructional strategies.
Encourage the development of analytical reasoning, imaginative problem-solving, and respect for varied literary works and viewpoints.
Craft differentiated instructional strategies tailored to accommodate varied student learning levels and capabilities.
Employ student-centered and inquiry-driven instructional methodologies to foster active learning and engagement.
Develop and administer both formative and summative assessments aligned with IB criteria to evaluate student progress and achievement effectively.
Deliver prompt, actionable feedback while meticulously documenting student progress to ensure comprehensive records are maintained.
Facilitate student readiness for both internal and external evaluations, such as IB assessments.

Serve as a Homeroom Tutor, providing comprehensive academic assistance and personalized pastoral care to students.
Enhance co-curricular engagement by participating in activities such as debate, drama, or writing clubs.
Proactively interact with parents via scheduled conferences and established communication methods to foster ongoing dialogue and collaborative relationships.
Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop curriculum and support school-wide initiatives.
The requirements
Seeking a candidate with a minimum of three years of relevant work experience and a bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as business administration, finance, or accounting. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, is essential, along with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. The ideal applicant should demonstrate exceptional communication abilities, both written and verbal, and the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Prior experience in project management or a similar role is highly preferred, as are leadership qualities and a commitment to continuous professional development.
A recognized university must confer a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, with a specialization in English, Literature, or a closely related field.
Professionals based in Kenya must possess valid Teacher’s Service Commission (TSC) registration.
Proven expertise in delivering instruction within diverse, multicultural, and international educational settings, coupled with a deep commitment to student-centered learning approaches rooted in inquiry-based pedagogical principles.
Requires a minimum of two to three years of teaching experience in the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program and/or Diploma Program, or an equivalent curriculum, ideally within an international educational environment.
