Reporting directly to the Head of Employee Relations, Performance & Wellness, this position plays a pivotal role in developing and implementing people strategies aimed at fostering a workplace that is equitable, diverse, and motivating.

This role encompasses fostering constructive employee relations, upholding legal standards, managing employee performance, and shaping a values-driven organizational culture.

Oversee and execute a broad range of critical duties, including but not limited to project management, strategic planning, and cross-functional collaboration. Ensure adherence to established timelines, budgets, and quality standards while identifying opportunities for process improvements and innovation. Serve as a liaison between senior leadership and operational teams to align goals, mitigate risks, and drive organizational efficiency. Additionally, monitor performance metrics, analyze trends, and prepare comprehensive reports to support data-driven decision-making. Foster a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and high performance within the team.

Employee Relations: Serve as a strategic partner in fostering a positive, inclusive work environment by addressing employee concerns, mediating conflicts, and promoting organizational values. Develop and implement policies and programs that enhance engagement, job satisfaction, and overall workplace morale. Conduct thorough investigations into workplace issues, ensuring fairness and compliance with labor laws and company policies. Provide guidance to managers and employees on best practices in performance management, workplace conduct, and conflict resolution. Collaborate with HR leadership to align employee relations strategies with broader organizational objectives, driving continuous improvement in workplace culture and employee well-being.

Facilitate the creation, clarification, and dissemination of HR policies to ensure compliance with Kenyan Labour Laws, regulatory mandates, and the Bank’s core values and governance principles.

Oversee employee relations functions, such as managing disciplinary actions, addressing grievances, resolving workplace conduct concerns, and processing appeals, while upholding fairness, consistency, and adherence to internal policies and regulatory standards.

Ensure meticulous and compliant documentation of employee relations cases, working closely with HR Business Partners and line management to uphold record-keeping standards and regulatory obligations.

Spearhead organizational change projects—such as restructures and branch realignments—while preserving employee engagement, maintaining seamless operational continuity, and ensuring strict adherence to regulatory requirements.

Deliver prompt, actionable support to managers to ensure equitable, uniform, and compliant management of employee-related issues, thereby reducing operational and reputational exposure.

Serve on disciplinary hearing panels, guaranteeing due process, procedural fairness, and accurate documentation in compliance with internal policies and relevant labor laws.

Build and nurture relationships with employee representatives and workplace committees, promoting open dialogue, mutual trust, and cooperative efforts to uphold a constructive and compliant workplace atmosphere.

Maintain disciplinary records in a current, confidential state by proficiently managing the ER tracker, thereby guaranteeing that information is easily accessible for audits and informed decision-making.

You will assist in the regular evaluation and revision of the HR Manual to maintain its compliance with current employment laws, regulatory standards, and emerging trends in the banking industry.

Maintains accountability for performance by establishing clear expectations, providing constructive feedback, and conducting regular evaluations to ensure alignment with organizational goals and individual development objectives.

Devise and implement performance review timelines and ensure clear, timely communication regarding all related processes.

Assist employees and managers in navigating the performance management process effectively.

Monitor performance advancements and verify that evaluations are finalized within the designated timeframe.

Ensure the precision of performance metrics while compiling and distributing detailed performance reports.

Help facilitate the establishment of objectives, gather input on performance, and coordinate the logistics involved in conducting reviews.

Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to all established HR policies and procedures at all times.

Assist in implementing the Bank’s Employee Wellness Program by coordinating wellness initiatives in alignment with the approved Wellness Calendar. This involves collaborating with accredited wellness service providers, organizing activities, promoting participation, and maintaining timely and professional communication with staff.

Support strategic inclusion and employee engagement initiatives—such as diversity forums and employee resource groups—by managing logistics, communications, and feedback systems to strengthen program effectiveness and drive meaningful impact.

Facilitate the development and implementation of employee engagement initiatives, including year-end gatherings and various forums, designed to foster collaboration, unity, and a cohesive organizational culture.

Collaborate in designing and executing employee recognition programs at organizational and departmental levels, encompassing formal accolades as well as peer-driven acknowledgment efforts, to cultivate and sustain a culture of high performance.

Craft compelling and informative communication materials focused on employee wellness programs, policy updates, and engagement initiatives, ensuring they meet internal communication standards and effectively reach target audiences.

Ensure alignment with established performance objectives, as outlined in the Bank’s HR strategy and balanced scorecard, while achieving individual performance targets to drive measurable impact and maintain accountability.

A master’s degree in a relevant field, such as education, curriculum development, or instructional design, is required. Additionally, certification in teaching or a related discipline is preferred. Three or more years of professional experience in academic administration, faculty support, or educational program coordination is essential. Familiarity with accreditation standards and institutional assessment processes is advantageous. Strong organizational and project management skills are necessary to oversee complex initiatives. Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools is highly desirable.

A bachelor’s degree in human resources management, business administration, or a closely related discipline is required.

Professional qualifications and memberships in relevant professional bodies are essential. Additionally, a strong record of publications in esteemed journals or conferences is highly valued.

Minimum of three years of relevant professional experience is necessary, with a preference for candidates holding expertise in project management, client relations, or a similar field.

A minimum of three to four years of hands-on HR generalist experience is required, with a particular emphasis on employee relations, performance management, and wellness initiatives.

Demonstrates a thorough understanding of Kenyan Labor Laws, including their application and implications.

Proven expertise in managing disciplinary actions and collaborating with employee representatives and line managers is required.

Proven track record in championing and spearheading initiatives focused on employee engagement, recognition, and wellness.

Competencies include a strong foundation in analytical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making, enabling the ability to evaluate complex situations and derive logical solutions. Demonstrated proficiency in communication skills is essential for effectively conveying ideas, collaborating across teams, and fostering stakeholder relationships.
