What You’ll Do
Conduct a comprehensive analysis of grants and results-based financing prospects that align with Solar Panda’s core markets and product offerings, specifically in the off-grid solar, energy access, and rural electrification sectors.
Develop and sustain a dynamic pipeline of grant opportunities, prioritizing programs relevant to off-grid solar and energy access initiatives. This scope encompasses the World Bank’s Ascent initiative and similar funding institutions, such as GIG/Ended, KfW, FCDO, BFA, alongside other bilateral and multilateral programs.
Develop and sustain meaningful professional connections with program officers and advisors from pivotal institutions, ensuring close engagement with the ecosystem to stay informed about strategic priorities, anticipated program sequences, and funding timelines through participation in conferences, networks, and continued institutional collaborations.
Drive the comprehensive development of top-tier grant applications from inception to completion, collaborating closely with Solar Panda’s operations, finance, and technical teams to compile and integrate all necessary inputs.
Collaborate closely with Solar Panda’s internal teams to uphold post-award compliance standards, fulfill reporting commitments, and maintain strong, ongoing relationships with funders.
Provide Solar Panda leadership with timely updates on pipeline progress, new business prospects, and strategic market positioning.
Who You Are
Seasoned professionals with a minimum of seven years’ expertise in grant strategy formulation, development finance initiatives, or funding mobilization efforts across the African continent are encouraged to apply.
Proficient understanding of key funders operating within the energy access or rural development sectors is essential.
Relevant background includes prior involvement with the World Bank, the United Nations, or a prominent bilateral agency.
Successfully secured competitive grants, particularly within the domains of off-grid energy, climate initiatives, or last-mile service delivery, as evidenced by a proven track record.
Excellent proficiency in written English is essential, with fluency in French serving as a considerable asset, particularly considering our operations in Francophone markets such as Senegal and Benin.

We are seeking a highly organized individual to oversee structure and compensation initiatives. The role demands meticulous attention to detail and strong analytical skills to develop, implement, and maintain equitable compensation frameworks. Key responsibilities include analyzing market data, benchmarking salary structures, and ensuring alignment with organizational goals and compliance requirements. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in compensation analysis, effective communication to stakeholders, and the ability to design competitive reward systems that attract, retain, and motivate top talent. Familiarity with relevant tools and methodologies in compensation management is essential.
The role may be offered as either a full-time position or a consulting arrangement, with specific terms to be finalized during the interview process. The position could be based at one of our primary offices in Benin, Kenya, Senegal, Zambia, or arranged as a remote opportunity.
We foresee this initiative unfolding in three distinct phases.
The onboarding process spans the initial four to six weeks and encompasses landscape mapping, development of Solar Panda’s grant pipeline tracker, examination of existing grant history, and initial strategic alignment.
Upon completion of onboarding, the role will emphasize ongoing pipeline development and monitoring, cultivating and sustaining key relationships, identifying and flagging opportunities, and providing consistent updates.
Crafting proposals for currently open grant opportunities is a key responsibility of this role.
