Job Objective/Purpose

We are seeking a skilled professional to spearhead and organize vaccination initiatives targeting school-age children and hospital staff, while monitoring student engagement in immunization services. The role requires ensuring the secure, ethical, and regulation-compliant administration of vaccines in alignment with Ministry of Health (MOH) directives, occupational health protocols, and hospital-specific policies.

Key Responsibilities

The vaccination programs for school-going children, both within the hospital and at designated outreach locations, will be strategically planned, coordinated, and managed to ensure comprehensive coverage and efficiency.

Collaborate with educational institutions, families, and public health officials to synchronize vaccination timelines and secure necessary permissions.

Administer vaccinations with a focus on child-centered care, ensuring all procedures are tailored to the child’s age and developmental stage while maintaining the highest standards of safety.

Responsible for supervising cold chain operations, ensuring proper vaccine storage, managing handling procedures, and maintaining accurate accountability records.

Monitor vaccine distribution to assess coverage, usage rates, and waste, while also tracking any Adverse Events Following Immunization (AEF) to ensure safety and efficacy.

Maintain precise records, reports, and subsequent actions for all vaccination-related activities.

Collaborate with HR and Occupational Health to plan, manage, and execute employee vaccination programs efficiently.

Ensure adherence to Ministry of Health (MOH) recommendations regarding staff immunization protocols.

Ensure the confidentiality and accuracy of employee vaccination records and related reports at all times.

Assist in implementing staff vaccination programs, including those required for employment, routine health maintenance, and outbreak containment.

Offer essential vaccine education and counseling services tailored to employees and relevant stakeholders as needed.

Strict adherence to child safeguarding policies must be maintained throughout all vaccination activities conducted within the school environment.

Obtain written confirmation of informed consent before administering any vaccination procedures.

Maintain strict adherence to privacy, dignity, confidentiality, and safety protocols throughout the vaccine administration process.

Investigate and oversee vaccination-related incidents, adverse events following immunization (Aegis), and safeguarding concerns as part of comprehensive risk management protocols.

Collaborate effectively with the Ministry of Health, County Health teams, educational institutions, and internal departments to advance immunization initiatives.

Develop and compile compliance, performance, and regulatory reports concerning vaccination programs.

Facilitate compliance with audits, inspections, and accreditation standards specific to immunization services.

Person Specification

A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Public Health, or a related field within healthcare is required.

A current Nursing Council of Kenya registration is necessary.

Maintained current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.

ATLAS certification is advantageous for candidates to possess.

A minimum of three years of professional experience within a hospital environment is required.

Proficiency in hospital-based chronic care initiatives will be highly beneficial to your application.

Proven ability to establish strong rapport and convey ideas effectively through both written and verbal channels. Demonstrates active listening and clarity in interactions, fostering productive relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
