The Managing Director & CEO will oversee the strategic planning, development, construction, ownership, operation, and maintenance of high-voltage electricity transmission networks and regional power interconnectors.

The role also reports to the Board of Directors, overseeing the formulation and execution of the company’s strategic direction, vision, mission, and objectives. Additionally, it involves mobilizing and managing organizational resources, guiding leadership efforts, and ensuring alignment with the company’s mandate as outlined in Sessional Paper No. 4 of 2004 on Energy, the Energy Act No. 1 of 2019, and the State Corporations Act, Cap 446.

Oversee primary duties including managing daily operations, coordinating team activities, and ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Implement strategic initiatives to enhance productivity and efficiency, while maintaining high standards of service delivery. Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and foster professional development opportunities for team members. Collaborate closely with cross-functional departments to streamline processes and address operational challenges. Monitor key performance indicators to assess progress, identify trends, and implement corrective measures as needed. Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and safety protocols.

Demonstrating strong leadership capabilities by guiding and inspiring both Senior Management and staff members.

Responsibilities include directing the planning, design, construction, ownership, operation, and maintenance of high-voltage electricity transmission grids and regional power interconnectors.

Ensuring the advancement of national and regional power trade to foster socio-economic growth.

Delivering strategic leadership and operational management for the Company, in alignment with the Board’s directives, remains a primary responsibility.

Overseeing the execution of all Government Directs and Administrative Circulars, this role ensures compliance with established policies and directives.

Executive Orders relevant to the Company’s mandate are issued from time to time.

Ensuring adherence to regulatory standards throughout the formulation, development, and execution of strategic objectives, policies, and plans.

Building and maintaining strategic alliances across the business landscape, including Regulators, Government Ministries, Departments, Agencies, Development Partners, and both national and international stakeholders, is essential to fostering collaborative relationships and driving shared objectives.

Responsible for the acquisition of goods, services, and works, as well as managing inventory and overseeing asset disposal, ensuring full compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

To secure and deploy resources in alignment with the Company’s Strategic Plan, leveraging the Exchequer, Development Finance Institutions, Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs), and other innovative financing mechanisms.

The position involves managing the execution of new revenue streams and business opportunities for the company.

Providing strategic guidance to the Board of Directors regarding potential business opportunities to bolster the Company’s long-term growth and ensure its sustainability.

Developing and executing Human Resource Policies alongside a well-defined Organizational Structure, these efforts are designed to foster transparency, fairness, and the establishment of a robust succession planning framework.

To ensure robust corruption prevention measures, the role involves executing established policies and submitting regular reports to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACH).

Effectively managing corporate risks, ensuring stringent quality assurance, and implementing robust internal controls are essential responsibilities.

Fostering a favorable corporate reputation through strategic initiatives and consistent messaging is a key responsibility.

Formulating and executing the Strategic Plan, Business Strategies, and tariff revenue requirements to consistently support the Company’s short-term and long-term objectives is essential.

Fifteen (15) years of progressive work experience in total, with at least five (5) of those years held in a senior management capacity, is required.
