What You’ll Do

At DAKOTA, you will immediately assume leadership of the AI Operations team, spearheading its delivery, expanding its capabilities, and demonstrating measurable impact. Your team will develop automation solutions and intelligent agents for internal processes and act as strategic advisors, guiding Engineering in embedding AI into customer-facing products. Embrace the opportunity to merge advanced AI technologies with mission-driven initiatives that advance digital and financial inclusion throughout Africa.

You will be tasked with managing a variety of essential duties, including overseeing daily operations, coordinating team efforts, and ensuring adherence to organizational goals. This role demands strong problem-solving skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments. Proficiency in industry-specific tools and software, along with excellent communication and leadership capabilities, is required. Additionally, you will be responsible for analyzing performance metrics, optimizing workflows, and maintaining compliance with relevant policies and regulations.

Directly supervise and oversee a team of two AI Ops Engineers, ensuring accountability for project delivery, engineering innovation, and ongoing operational performance.

Efficiently prioritize tasks by adeptly managing competing requests from diverse teams, utilizing and contributing to the evolution of a structured prioritization framework.

Develop and deploy automations and AI-driven agents designed to significantly enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of both internal teams and customer-facing personnel.

Maintain the stability and performance of the AI tooling infrastructure as its usage expands to support over 2,500 employees.

Maintain awareness of the latest advancements in AI tools and technologies, discerning between fleeting trends and genuinely impactful innovations to ensure practical application.

Assist in enhancing the organization’s AI training initiatives for cross-functional teams, such as Engineering departments.

We operate within a dynamic technical environment, utilizing advanced frameworks and tools to deliver innovative solutions. Proficiency in [list relevant technologies, e.g., Java, Python, AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, Jenkins] is essential, along with familiarity with [mention any methodologies, e.g., Agile, DevOps]. Candidates should demonstrate expertise in [specify key responsibilities, e.g., system architecture, cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, troubleshooting]. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams are critical. Familiarity with [mention any additional tools or practices, e.g., monitoring tools, version control systems] is a plus.

We seek expertise in advanced AI and agentic frameworks, including but not limited to Claude, Claude Code, Anthropic’s suite of tools, Lang Chain, the MCP protocol, and Google’s ADK—or comparable solutions designed for agentic workflows.

Automation and Prototyping: Developing scripts, utilizing workflow tools, leveraging AI-assisted development methodologies, and facilitating rapid prototyping through platforms such as Tercel and Railway.

Enterprise Tooling: We implement and maintain identity automation solutions using Microsoft Entra, develop and enhance internal platforms, and integrate systems with Notion and HiBob.

Twelve months have already passed since the deployment of automations built with Claude, Notion, HiBob, and Entry, which are currently operating in a production environment.

Our Approach

Craft, rather than merely consult — this dynamic team actively develops and deploys fully operational automations and agents.

Demonstrate tangible value with a focused pilot team of two engineers, then leverage proven results to scale the initiative progressively.

A strong product-centric approach is essential, requiring you to view internal teams as valued customers and prioritize the development of effective, high-impact tooling.

Evaluate emerging AI tools by focusing on their tangible benefits rather than succumbing to promotional exaggerations.

What You Need

We seek a technically proficient professional with a product-centric mindset. Rather than developing models—responsibilities handled by our Data Science teams—you will design agents, implement automations, and guide a team to enhance the efficiency and intelligence of DAKOTA’s internal operations.

Seeking candidates with a minimum of three years of relevant professional experience, preferably in a similar role or industry. The ideal applicant should possess a proven track record in [specific skills or responsibilities relevant to the position], along with demonstrated expertise in [additional key areas]. Strong interpersonal and communication abilities are essential, as the role involves frequent collaboration with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. Familiarity with [specific tools, software, or methodologies] is highly advantageous.

Proven expertise in developing automation solutions, including scripting, workflow optimization tools, or AI-driven development methodologies.

Seasoned professionals with practical expertise in developing agents utilizing agentic frameworks such as Lang Chain, MCP, Google ADK, or comparable tools are encouraged to apply.

Experience with enterprise-grade tooling, including rapid prototyping solutions such as Tercel or Railway, identity automation frameworks like Entry, or internal platform development.

You possess demonstrated expertise in leading and guiding engineers, having successfully managed or mentored teams to drive project delivery and foster professional growth.
