Position Summary:
The Data Associate plays a pivotal role in ensuring the provision of accurate, timely, and dependable data to guide project execution, monitoring, and strategic decision-making. Collaborating closely with the Technical Program Manager and MEL Lead, the position is dedicated to enhancing data collection, validation, analysis, and reporting procedures in alignment with established MEL frameworks and US data quality standards.
This role plays a key part in sustaining efficient data systems, generating analytical deliverables and visual representations, and facilitating field data collection along with stakeholder engagement. Ensure the prompt, thorough, and precise gathering of data from project sites and partners, adhering to Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) plans and established reporting schedules.
Execute routine data cleaning, validation, and verification tasks to uphold superior data quality and integrity, while promptly addressing discrepancies in collaboration with data providers.
Maintain datasets and data systems that are meticulously organized, secure, and current to facilitate seamless access, reporting, and audits, including ensuring readiness for Data Quality Assessments (DA).
Responsibilities include assisting with regular data analysis and compiling summaries, dashboards, and visualizations using tools such as Excel, Superset, and DHIS2 to support program decision-making processes.
Ensure accurate data entry, extraction, and reporting processes are executed in strict adherence to project specifications, national standards, and donor mandates.
Engage in on-site data collection efforts, including surveys, interviews, and validation exercises, to enhance the precision and comprehensiveness of gathered information.
Monitor project indicators, deliverables, and milestone progression in alignment with established targets and schedules, identifying potential risks, delays, and data discrepancies as they arise.
Prepare regular progress updates and reports, emphasizing performance trends, potential issues, and necessary corrective measures.
Facilitate the creation, refinement, and implementation of standardized tools, SOPs, and reporting templates to enhance data management practices and ensure consistency across processes.
Collaborate with project teams and external partners to facilitate the seamless exchange of data, guaranteeing adherence to reporting standards and maximizing the strategic value of insights for informed decision-making.
Deliver comprehensive logistical and administrative assistance for meetings, training sessions, and stakeholder engagement activities centered around data initiatives.
Required qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience, along with at least three years of professional experience in a relevant industry. Proficiency in specific software tools or technical skills, as outlined in the job posting, is mandatory. Excellent communication, problem-solving abilities, and a strong attention to detail are essential traits for success in this role. A bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Data Science, Actuarial Science, Public Health, or a related quantitative field is required.
Proven expertise in Microsoft Excel, complemented by a solid understanding of data visualization and reporting tools, including Power BI, Superset, and DHIS2.
Proven expertise in cleaning, validating, and preparing both quantitative and qualitative datasets to ensure accuracy and readiness for analysis.
Proficiency in utilizing digital data collection tools, data entry platforms, and standard data management systems is required.
Demonstrated expertise in assisting research initiatives, collecting field data, or conducting analytical tasks within a well-defined program framework.
Proficient in evaluating documentation, compiling reports, and coordinating with stakeholders to verify the integrity and precision of data.
