What You’ll Do

At DAKOTA, you will immediately take charge of the AI Operations team, driving its delivery, expanding its capabilities, and demonstrating its impact. Your team will develop automation solutions and AI-driven agents for internal processes while providing expert guidance to Engineering teams on integrating AI into customer-facing products. Be part of an initiative that merges innovative AI technologies with meaningful work, advancing digital and financial inclusion across Africa.

Your primary duties will encompass delivering high-quality solutions that align with organizational objectives, collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive projects forward, and ensuring adherence to established protocols and standards. Additionally, you will be tasked with analyzing complex data sets to identify trends and opportunities, presenting actionable insights to stakeholders, and optimizing processes to enhance overall efficiency. The role demands a proactive approach, exceptional problem-solving abilities, and a keen attention to detail, along with proficiency in relevant tools and technologies. You will also be responsible for maintaining clear communication channels with team members and senior leadership, documenting progress, and contributing to strategic planning initiatives.

Lead and oversee two AI Ops Engineers, taking full ownership of their project delivery, professional growth, and daily operational tasks.

Efficiently prioritize tasks by managing competing requests from various teams, utilizing a structured prioritization framework that you will contribute to developing and refining.

Develop and deploy automation solutions and AI-driven agents designed to significantly enhance operational efficiency for both internal teams and customer-facing personnel.

Ensure the robustness and efficiency of the AI infrastructure as its adoption expands to over 2,500 employees.

To remain abreast of rapidly evolving AI tools and technologies, it is essential to discern between fleeting trends and genuinely impactful advancements, ensuring informed decision-making in their application.

Assist in enhancing AI training methodologies across the broader organization, collaborating closely with Engineering teams.

The technical environment includes proficiency with scripting languages such as Python, JavaScript, or PowerShell, along with experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools, such as Terraform or CloudFormation, is preferred, as is knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes. Experience with CI/CD pipelines, monitoring tools, and security best practices is also necessary. The role requires a solid understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, and VPNs, as well as troubleshooting skills for complex technical issues. Additionally, the candidate should be adept at working within Agile methodologies and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions efficiently.

Experienced professionals in AI-driven agentic frameworks such as Claude, Claude Code, Anthropic tooling, Lang Chain, MCP, and Google ADK—or comparable agentic solutions—are sought.

Automation and Prototyping: Developing scripts, utilizing workflow tools, leveraging AI-assisted development techniques, and executing rapid prototyping through platforms such as Tercel or Railway.

Enterprise Tooling responsibilities include automating identity management through Entry, developing and maintaining internal platforms, and integrating systems with Notion and HiBob to enhance operational efficiency and collaboration. This role requires expertise in identity automation frameworks, proficiency in internal platform development, and hands-on experience with Notion and HiBob integrations.

Twelve months have already passed since the implementation of automated solutions via Claude, Notion, HiBob, and Entry, which are currently operational in a production environment.

Our Approach

Craft and implement solutions rather than merely providing recommendations, as this is a practical team focused on delivering operational automations and intelligent agents.

Demonstrate tangible value first, then scale the initiative—initiate with a core team of two engineers, establish measurable impact, and subsequently expand the effort.

Cultivate a product-centric approach by prioritizing the needs of internal teams and developing tools designed to effectively meet their requirements.

Evaluate emerging AI tools based on their tangible value, prioritizing substance over promotional noise.

What You Need

We seek a technically proficient individual with a product-centric mindset to design and implement intelligent solutions. While our Data Science teams handle model development, this role will focus on building autonomous agents, deploying automation workflows, and spearheading a team that enhances the efficiency and intelligence of DAKOTA’s internal operations.

Required Experience:

Candidates must possess a minimum of five years of relevant professional experience in a comparable role, with a proven track record of delivering measurable results. Prior experience in project management, strategic planning, or a closely related field is essential. Familiarity with industry-specific tools, methodologies, and best practices is required, as is the ability to adapt to evolving business needs. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are necessary to succeed in this position.

Seeking candidates with practical expertise in creating automation solutions, including scripting, workflow tools, or AI-enhanced development processes.

Seeking professionals with practical expertise in developing agents utilizing agentic frameworks such as Lang Chain, MCP, Google ADK, or comparable technologies.

Individuals with experience in enterprise tooling, including rapid prototyping platforms (e.g., Tercel/Railway) and identity automation solutions (e.g., Entry), or those who have contributed to the development of internal platforms, are encouraged to apply.

You must possess demonstrated experience in leading and mentoring engineering teams, with a strong ability to take ownership of both team delivery and professional development.
