Our client, a prominent telecommunications provider, is seeking to hire a Trade Development Representative.
Reports directly to the Area Sales Manager to ensure alignment with regional sales objectives and to facilitate clear communication of performance metrics, market trends, and strategic initiatives. This role involves regular updates on sales activities, customer engagement, and pipeline developments to support data-driven decision-making at the managerial level. Additionally, the position requires adherence to corporate policies, compliance standards, and reporting protocols to maintain operational consistency across the region.
Job purpose
To prioritize retailer engagement through strategic channel visits, aiming to enhance brand awareness and optimize SIM and Float performance, while ensuring meticulous attention to visibility standards and merchandising excellence at the point of purchase for SOS and Trash agents.
Oversee and execute a comprehensive range of duties essential to the role, including managing day-to-day operations with precision, spearheading strategic initiatives to drive growth, and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to align objectives. Ensure adherence to organizational policies, maintain meticulous records, and uphold high standards of accuracy and efficiency in all tasks. Identify opportunities for process improvements, implement best practices, and foster a culture of accountability and innovation. Act as a liaison between departments to streamline communication, resolve challenges proactively, and support leadership in achieving long-term goals.
Effectively oversee the identification, recruitment, and mapping of Agents, with a focus on mobile money outlets and high-traffic retail stores.
Regularly visit SOS and Agents in accordance with predetermined route plans (beat plans) to maintain call rates.
Provide essential transaction tools at SSO and agent outlets, ensuring all necessary resources are available. Conduct comprehensive training sessions for SOS and Trash Agents to familiarize them with the processes.
Train staff members on anti-money laundering (AML) compliance and educate supervisors on “Know Your Customer” (KYC) procedures as they pertain to SIM REG regulations.
Float and stock cover and sales management entails continuous monitoring and strict adherence to the 1.5x stock rule for agents, while simultaneously ensuring stock SIMs are sufficiently available to support new registrations and activations.
Merchandising involves establishing and upholding merchandising standards by ensuring the availability of merchandising materials at SOS and Agent outlets.
We seek applicants with a strong academic foundation and relevant professional experience. A degree in a related field is required, along with a proven track record in the industry. Prior experience in a similar role is essential, as are specialized skills pertinent to the position. Additionally, certifications or advanced training may be necessary to meet the job demands.
A Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Business, Marketing, or a related discipline is required.
Experience
With a minimum of one year’s background in sales and distribution roles within the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) or telecommunications sectors, candidates should meet this foundational experience requirement.
