Purpose of the Role

The Associate MEP Engineer plays a key role in executing the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) components of Colo’s data center construction initiatives. This position ensures MEP activities are completed with precision, meeting stringent quality benchmarks while aligning with project-specific cost targets, timelines, safety protocols, and operational needs.

Oversee a comprehensive range of duties encompassing strategic planning, operational execution, and performance monitoring to ensure organizational objectives are consistently achieved. Develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practices that enhance efficiency, compliance, and productivity across all departments. Collaborate with senior leadership to align team goals with broader business initiatives while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess progress, identify areas for optimization, and implement corrective measures as needed. Provide mentorship and guidance to team members to cultivate talent, strengthen leadership capabilities, and promote professional growth within the organization.

Project management responsibilities include leading cross-functional teams, overseeing project timelines, budgets, and deliverables, and ensuring adherence to company standards and client requirements. Key requirements involve demonstrated experience in project coordination, risk management, and stakeholder communication, along with proficiency in project management software and methodologies. The role demands strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively to meet deadlines and achieve project objectives.

Develop a comprehensive grasp of contract documents, including drawings and specifications, phasing plans, interrelations between MEP systems, construction sequencing, and the overall project schedule.

Evaluate construction documents to ensure they are fully comprehensive and feasible for implementation.

Conduct a dual-control verification of the finalized RFP before distributing it to consultants, contractors, and suppliers.

Craft preliminary evaluations of proposals submitted by consultants, contractors, and suppliers for subsequent review, ensuring comprehensive analysis is conducted.

Review and assess the responsibility matrix for current projects, pinpointing any instances of scope overlap, deficiencies, or deviations.

Support the development and evaluation of design and project risk logs by providing thorough reviews and contributing to their preparation.

Evaluate and provide feedback on the project schedule submitted by contractors and suppliers.

Oversee the coordination and execution of MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) work installations while providing direct supervision, monitoring, and management of MEP subcontractor activities.

Work collaboratively across departments to align project timelines, allocate necessary resources, and coordinate inspections in support of the established schedule.

Provide technical assistance to clients facing hardware, software, or network-related issues, ensuring prompt resolution of their concerns. Diagnose problems efficiently using diagnostic tools and troubleshooting methodologies, then implement appropriate solutions while maintaining clear communication throughout the process. Document all interactions and resolutions in the ticketing system for future reference and accountability. Stay updated on product specifications, software updates, and emerging industry trends to deliver informed support. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering and product development, to escalate complex issues and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Adhere to established service level agreements (SLAs) to meet response and resolution time targets.

The initial evaluation of design submissions, including drawings, schematics, and accompanying documentation, provided by external consultants, is conducted.

Provide support in resolving any MEP subcontractor conflicts that emerge during construction by documenting all discussions and verifying their resolution.

Maintain a comprehensive log of RBIs and technical submittals to guarantee prompt responses and contractor feedback.

Support the testing and commissioning of MEP equipment by compiling and organizing all required documentation.

Oversee the procurement, maintenance, and deployment of all commissioning-related equipment, including load banks, containment units, power loggers, thermal imagers, and other essential tools. Ensure these resources are readily available, properly calibrated, and maintained to meet operational requirements for commissioning activities.

You will be responsible for maintaining accurate and comprehensive records, compiling detailed reports, and ensuring all documentation adheres to established standards and compliance requirements. This role involves preparing clear, concise summaries of findings, actions taken, and outcomes achieved, as well as managing the filing and retrieval of critical documents. Strong attention to detail and proficiency in relevant software tools are essential to support organizational transparency and accountability.

Accurate logging and updating of all MEP changes and as-built information on field drawings must be maintained at all times.

Verify that all handover documentation—including Soon, manuals, warranties, and other relevant materials—provided by suppliers and contractors is obtained and stored in accordance with established procedures.

Ensure site-specific capacity planners are kept current with expansion initiatives and any modifications to equipment.

Compile monthly technical reports for evaluation and distribution by the MEP engineer.

Ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and maintaining a safe work environment are critical responsibilities of this role. The position requires vigilant oversight to mitigate risks and uphold compliance with all relevant laws, policies, and industry best practices. Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to safety protocols and possess the ability to implement robust compliance measures effectively.

Confirm that MEP Subcontractors deliver and maintain the necessary Quality documentation and records in accordance with applicable standards.

Ensure strict compliance with all Project safety regulations by MEP Subcontractors throughout the duration of their engagement.

Develop and oversee the company’s Zero Injury and Safe Powering On Program across all project sites.

Required Qualifications and Background: Candidates must possess expertise in [specific skills, e.g., project management, data analysis, software development], along with a minimum of [X] years of relevant work experience in [specific industry or field]. Proficient in computer operations with advanced skills in MS Office, AutoCAD, and specialized construction project management software.

Holders of LEED accreditation will be viewed favorably during the evaluation process.

Proficiency in the development and implementation of expansive infrastructure projects, notably data centers, is required.

A valid driver’s license is required for this position.

Must be available to travel to project sites as necessary.
