Mission Description

Oversee the teams responsible for Sea Export operations originating from Kenya.

Ensure the team remains apprised of any changes or developments while facilitating the required internal adjustments and clearly outlining objectives.

Assess the performance of team members to ensure alignment with organizational goals and identify areas for professional development.

Enhance the professional competencies of staff members through targeted training and development initiatives.

Establish and maintain standardized procedures to ensure seamless case transfer when organizational changes occur within the team.

Develop and establish the Middle Office organization, cultivate its expertise, and implement the necessary resources and standardized processes to ensure operational excellence.

Ensure the organization, expertise, and resources align with the objectives set forth by the Manager.

Regularly assess the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to confirm its alignment in serving customers effectively.

Ensure the execution of the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) is overseen by the Management Office (MO) team, validated through both internal and external quality audits, and continuously assessed in alignment with the approved action plan.

Coordinate and monitor operations.

Ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality service to clients by conducting thorough evaluations and assessments.

Risk identification and mitigation are key responsibilities, ensuring potential threats are minimized and managed effectively through proactive oversight and strategic interventions.

Our responsibility includes establishing and maintaining a comprehensive risk control framework.

Execute all necessary measures to mitigate any potential for additional or supplementary charges.

We are responsible for achieving both the mutually agreed contractual KPIs with our clients and our internal performance benchmarks.

To safeguard against excessive disbursement exposure, execute all necessary measures, including adherence to compliance classification protocols, accurate posting of bills and expenses, and proactive risk management—particularly concerning debit transactions.

Collaborate with both the Front Office and Back Office teams, including Legal and Insurance, to manage the customer disputes process, while identifying and executing measures to prevent the recurrence of underlying issues.

Ensure comprehensive insurance coverage for our services, whether utilizing internal resources or external providers, is maintained in collaboration with the Back-Office support (Insurance) team.

Management must be promptly informed of any issues or significant developments that could impact operations, compliance, or strategic objectives. This includes reporting potential risks, deviations from established procedures, or any circumstances requiring immediate attention to ensure timely resolution and maintain organizational integrity. Effective communication of such matters enables leadership to assess situations accurately, allocate necessary resources, and implement corrective actions where required.

Proactively assess key customers—including their cargo type, transaction volumes, financial stability, and account significance—and establish tailored monitoring protocols to ensure operational oversight as needed.

Gather relevant risk-related data, including customs issues, and compile a monthly summary for the Manager.

Compile and deliver a monthly performance report to the Manager, summarizing the department’s achievements and projecting future trends, while incorporating relevant market dynamics such as customer behavior and competitive landscape.

Profile

A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a closely related field is required for consideration. Candidates should possess strong analytical abilities, effective communication skills, and a solid foundation in quantitative methods. Proficiency with industry-standard software, including spreadsheets and data visualization tools, is essential. Prior experience in financial analysis, strategic planning, or project management is highly valued. The role demands meticulous attention to detail, the capacity to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams, and a commitment to continuous professional development.

Hold a Diploma in Clearing and Freight Forwarding or an equivalent qualification in a related discipline.

A minimum of five years of managerial experience within a fast-paced customs and freight forwarding organization, specializing in sea export operations, is required.
