Mission
The Humanitarian Action unit provides essential support and empowerment to local national offices (Nos) and partners, as required or upon request, to facilitate the successful execution of their mandate in alignment with the SOS Children’s Villages International Humanitarian Policy.
The Humanitarian Action Service is delivered by a responsive team of deployable senior humanitarian experts who serve in an executive capacity for Member Associations, with the objective of strengthening their capabilities and expediting the initiation or enhancement of humanitarian operations.
This role involves managing and aligning multiple funding sources or humanitarian appeals, especially during large-scale emergency responses, while also facilitating disaster preparedness, recovery efforts, and the deployment of new, innovative approaches. Additionally, it includes identifying and fostering partnership opportunities both on the ground and in international contexts to strengthen operational effectiveness.
Moreover, the department will institutionalize the Humanitarian, Development, and Peace (HDP) Nexus approach by strategically blending immediate lifesaving interventions with long-term recovery initiatives during both acute and protracted crises. This will ensure that the Humanitarian Affairs (HA) sector and the long-term development program collaborate seamlessly, guaranteeing uninterrupted service delivery to affected communities in the event of a major crisis.
The Humanitarian Action Advisor (China) spearheads the systematic integration of child protection within SOS Children’s Villages’ humanitarian initiatives, ensuring alignment with best practices and organizational standards. This position delivers technical leadership and maintains rigorous quality assurance throughout the project lifecycle, while also contributing to proposal development and enhancing the capacity of Member Associations to implement inclusive, child-centered, and gender-responsive interventions. Through fostering innovation, testing novel methodologies, and representing SOS CV in critical coordination platforms, the Advisor enhances program quality, accountability, and sectoral visibility while advancing child protection priorities.

Facilitate advancements in child protection initiatives by evaluating novel strategies, capturing key insights, and enabling their broader implementation and expansion.
