Oversee a comprehensive range of responsibilities encompassing strategic planning, operational execution, and performance evaluation to ensure organizational objectives are met with precision and efficiency. Develop and implement initiatives that enhance productivity, streamline processes, and foster innovation across departments. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align goals, resolve challenges, and drive sustainable growth while maintaining rigorous adherence to compliance standards and best practices. Monitor key performance indicators, analyze trends, and provide data-driven recommendations to senior leadership to support informed decision-making and continuous improvement.

Within the initial three-month period, craft Independent Development Plans (IDPs) that delineate a clear professional career trajectory and define the pathway toward achieving autonomy as a scientist.

Complete three adjunct courses, specifically One Health Ethics, Implementation Science, and Applied Leadership Skills.

Fostered mentorship in research initiatives while advancing South-South collaboration in research training priorities through strategic engagement in high-impact cross-border research partnerships.

Build strategic partnerships with other projects funded by the NIH and capitalize on collaborative opportunities with foundation-supported initiatives.

Engage actively in prominent global scientific forums, including the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (ASTM), the Consortium of Universities in Global Health (HUGH), the World One Health Congress, and the annual conferences and workshops organized by Africa CDC.

Acquaint yourself with the research initiatives underway in the laboratories of the designated co-mentoring principal investigators (PI’s) and commence your guided research project.

Attend monthly seminars and quarterly joint meetings to monitor progress and deliver consistent updates.

Craft a compelling competitive research grant proposal from the outset of your fellowship, actively pursuing both intramural and extramural funding opportunities to lay the groundwork for your independent research career.

We are currently seeking a qualified candidate to fill this position, with a strong preference for individuals holding a relevant bachelor’s degree and possessing at least two years of professional experience in the field. Proficiency in industry-standard software and tools, as well as excellent communication and problem-solving abilities, is essential. The ideal applicant will demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and adaptability in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities will include collaborating with cross-functional teams, managing projects from inception to completion, and ensuring adherence to deadlines and quality standards.

A PhD in fields such as Clinical or Public Health Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Medical Microbiology, Applied Microbiology, Immunology, Public Health/One Health, Tropical and Infectious Diseases, Molecular Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, Data Science, or any closely related disciplines is required.

The position involves conducting research centered on the program’s One Health themes, specifically addressing Endemic and Neglected Zoonotic Infectious Diseases, Zoonotic and other Infectious Diseases, as well as Data Sciences. Additionally, the role requires proficiency in Adjunct Skills and Knowledge. These are essential requirements for the position.

Strong academic credentials, evidenced by a robust publication history aligned with one or more of HEART’s thematic priorities, are essential.

Applicants are required to hold a PhD conferred by one of the partnering academic institutions.

Candidates should have completed their PhD within the last five years.

Proficient in both written and verbal communication is required.

Ability to collaborate effectively within diverse, multi-institutional teams and multicultural settings.
