Monitor and analyze Kenya’s legislative landscape to ensure the business remains fully aware of and compliant with all relevant legal obligations.
To ensure full compliance with applicable regulations and the broader regulatory landscape, you will acquire and maintain a deep knowledge of regulatory requirements and their impact on business operations. The incumbent will oversee all litigation matters initiated by or against the business as determined by the Head of Legal, Kenya, and will be responsible for developing and implementing effective case strategies.
Provide assistance to the Head of Legal, Kenya, in overseeing entity management and maintaining adherence to best practices in corporate governance across our client’s entities in the country.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams on business projects and initiatives to evaluate, track, and proactively identify potential threats, thereby reducing legal risks and supporting the successful attainment of organizational goals.
Draft, negotiate, and finalize contractual agreements while establishing and refining standardized templates to enhance operational efficiency within the Legal sub-function.
Perform essential administrative functions within the department to maintain resource availability, ensure uninterrupted information flow, and keep records current.
Establish and maintain an enhanced control environment within the Legal department that aligns with the company’s strategic objectives.

Educational Background, Professional Experience, and Key Competencies:
A law degree from an accredited institution, coupled with the ability to deliver precise legal counsel to internal stakeholders, is essential.
At minimum, three to four years of post-qualification legal experience is required.
Preferred candidates will have accumulated at least two to three years of professional experience within high-pressure legal environments, such as dynamic law firms.
Seasoned professionals with a proven track record in overseeing legal disputes and managing litigation processes are strongly encouraged to apply. Candidates should possess hands-on experience in coordinating case preparations, ensuring compliance with procedural requirements, and maintaining meticulous documentation throughout legal proceedings. Familiarity with court filings, discovery processes, and settlement negotiations is essential, as is the ability to collaborate effectively with legal teams, clients, and external stakeholders to achieve favorable outcomes.
Proficiency in company secretarial procedures and governance matters, particularly Certified Practicing Secretary of Korea (CPSK) qualifications, is highly advantageous.
A comprehensive understanding of pertinent local substantive and procedural laws is essential, including Commercial Law, labor laws, land laws, factory and manufacturing regulations, and Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) legislation.
Proficient in negotiation, along with exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, are essential for this role.
