Oversee and execute critical duties encompassing strategic planning, cross-functional collaboration, and operational execution to achieve organizational objectives. Serve as a pivotal liaison between departments, stakeholders, and senior leadership to align goals and drive performance improvements. Monitor key performance indicators, analyze data trends, and implement corrective actions to optimize efficiency and profitability. Develop and mentor team members, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and high-performance standards. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, quality assurance protocols, and ethical practices across all operations.

The ideal candidate will oversee the following responsibilities:

Delivering comprehensive financial strategies and executing the University’s budgetary framework represent core responsibilities of this position.

Crafting, executing, and overseeing the deployment of robust financial, accounting, and administrative policies and procedures to guarantee the optimal economic utilization of university resources.

Compiling statutory financial and annual reports in adherence to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and applicable regulatory requirements constitutes a primary responsibility.

Serving as a key intermediary between internal and external auditors, this role ensures the accuracy and reliability of financial reporting while upholding stringent compliance standards.

The University must adhere to all statutory reporting obligations while maintaining compliance with both national and international legislative requirements.

The department’s daily operations will be managed, and strategic recommendations on resource optimization will be provided to university leadership.

Managing the University revenue collection and overseeing sound tracking and utilization of the research grants and institutional endowments.

Managing, mentoring and reviewing performance of the finance and accounting department staff.

Offering comprehensive administrative assistance to every department within the University while ensuring adherence to established financial policies and procedures.

Crafting informative, pertinent, and punctual management reports in alignment with the University’s established calendar.

The incumbent is expected to undertake any additional official responsibilities assigned by the University Management as required.

Seeking candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as finance, accounting, or business administration, along with a minimum of three years of professional experience in a comparable role. Proficiency in financial software and advanced Excel skills are essential, alongside strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication and organizational talents are required to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. A commitment to continuous learning and adaptability to evolving industry standards is also expected.

A recognized university must confer a Master’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Commerce, Economics, or a closely related discipline.

A recognized university must confer a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, encompassing qualifications such as a Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Business Management, Bachelor of Business Administration, or any equivalent business-related degree.

A recognized professional accounting certification, such as a CPA (K), an ARCA finalist status, or an equivalent qualification, along with active membership in the appropriate Professional Body, is required.

A registered professional within a pertinent industry body, maintaining current and compliant membership status, is required.

Seeking candidates with a minimum of five years of post-qualification professional experience in finance, accounting, budgeting, auditing, or financial management, ideally within a university, public institution, or comparable setting.

Proficient in financial management regulations, accounting standards, and internal control systems is required.

A strong command of ERP systems and financial management software, along with familiarity with pertinent Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, is required. Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional growth and training is essential.
