Oversee and execute a comprehensive range of critical duties aligned with the role, ensuring adherence to organizational standards and strategic objectives. Provide leadership in managing core functions while fostering collaboration across departments to drive efficiency and innovation. Develop and implement policies, procedures, and performance metrics to enhance operational excellence and accountability. Monitor progress, analyze outcomes, and recommend improvements to optimize workflows and resource allocation. Serve as a key liaison between senior management and teams to facilitate transparent communication and alignment with long-term goals. Ensure compliance with industry regulations, quality benchmarks, and best practices to uphold organizational integrity and stakeholder trust.

Deliver comprehensive ophthalmic services encompassing both outpatient consultations and surgical interventions.

Proficiently conduct cataract surgeries using Manual Small Incision Cataract Surgery (MICS) or Small Incision Cataract Surgery (SICS) techniques.

Ensure adherence to rigorous patient safety protocols, maintain exceptional surgical quality, and uphold meticulous documentation standards throughout all procedures.

Engage in clinical governance initiatives, conduct audits, attend continuing medical education (CME) programs, and lead quality improvement projects to ensure adherence to best practices and regulatory standards.

Collaborate effectively with diverse teams of healthcare professionals to ensure the highest standards of patient care are consistently achieved.

We seek a highly motivated candidate with a strong academic background in a relevant field, complemented by several years of hands-on experience in a comparable role. The ideal applicant will possess specialized knowledge and technical skills pertinent to the position, along with proven problem-solving abilities and a track record of delivering measurable results. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential, as the role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. Previous experience in a leadership or mentoring capacity is advantageous, as is familiarity with industry-specific tools and methodologies.

MB ChB and Med (Ophthalmology) or an equivalent qualification in medicine and ophthalmology are required.

Registered and accredited by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC), the successful candidate must hold a valid professional license in good standing to practice medicine or dentistry in Kenya.

Proficiency in Manual Small Incision Cataract Surgery (MICS) and Small Incision Cataract Surgery (SICS) is required.

Capable of autonomously overseeing ophthalmic clinic operations and coordinating surgical schedules with minimal supervision.

Demonstrated expertise in clinical decision-making, along with a high level of professionalism and exceptional communication abilities.

DESIRABLE

The COE CSA Fellowship or an equivalent qualification is required for this position.

Proficiency in phacoemulsification techniques is required, encompassing the ability to perform cataract extraction using ultrasonic energy effectively and safely. Candidates must demonstrate hands-on experience in managing various cataract densities and intraoperative complications, ensuring optimal patient outcomes. Familiarity with advanced phacoemulsification systems and instrumentation is expected, along with the capacity to adapt to evolving surgical technologies.
