The Senior Human Resource & Administration Officer spearheads the leadership and management of the organization’s human resources and administrative functions, ensuring operational efficiency, adherence to Kenyan labor regulations, and alignment with the organization’s strategic objectives and core values. This position is tasked with overseeing recruitment processes, fostering employee relations, implementing performance management systems, driving organizational development initiatives, managing administrative tasks, supervising procurement activities, and maintaining efficient office operations—all while cultivating a positive, inclusive, and high-performing workplace culture.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field required; CPA or equivalent certification preferred. Minimum of five years of progressive accounting experience, with at least three years in a supervisory or management role. Proficiency in GAAP standards, financial reporting, and ERP systems is essential. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Demonstrated leadership in process improvement and team development initiatives is highly desirable. Experience with audits, tax compliance, and budgeting processes is advantageous.
Education
A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a closely related discipline is required.
A Higher Diploma in Human Resource Management provides a distinct advantage.
Membership in the Institute of Human Resource Management (SHRINK) or another pertinent professional organization is strongly encouraged.
Experience
A minimum of five years of progressive experience in human resources and administration, ideally within an NGO or development organization, is required.
Proven understanding of Kenyan employment legislation and human resources operational excellence.
Proven expertise in employee relations, performance management, recruitment, and office administration is required.
Proficient in a variety of technical and interpersonal skills, with a strong ability to analyze complex problems and implement effective solutions. Demonstrates exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey ideas clearly and collaborate efficiently with cross-functional teams. Exhibits adaptability in dynamic environments, showcasing problem-solving agility and a commitment to continuous learning. Familiarity with industry-standard tools and methodologies, coupled with a results-driven mindset, ensures consistent performance and project success. A proactive approach to identifying opportunities for improvement and driving operational excellence is essential.
