Job Description

Finance team members are tasked with receiving, recording, tracking, and implementing internal controls to ensure the protection of sacred funds—donated in confidence as part of religious observance of divine directives—dedicated to advancing the Church’s spiritual objectives, all under the guidance of senior ecclesiastical leadership. This role serves as an entry-level professional accounting position, where the individual applies established accounting principles to manage specialized financial records and generate reports. The incumbent is responsible for supporting the daily upkeep of a comprehensive and accurate general ledger, as well as producing foundational financial statements.

Responsibilities

Compiling journal entries and performing necessary adjustments constitute core responsibilities, ensuring accurate financial records through meticulous transaction documentation and reconciliation processes.

Initiating general ledger file maintenance, performing account reconciliations, conducting reviews, and resolving outstanding ledger items.

Review expenditures against established budgets, perform required reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and record necessary correcting entries.

Responsibilities include supporting the preparation of diverse financial projections and expense documentation. Additionally, the role involves contributing to the development of various financial estimates and reports.

The incumbent is responsible for conducting thorough audits of project accounts to ensure adherence to established policies. Additionally, they must maintain regular correspondence with relevant parties to provide updates on the status and progress of these projects.

Assisting in the development and mentoring of priesthood leaders alongside providing guidance to junior accountants is a key responsibility of this role.

Seeking candidates with at least four to six years of hands-on accounting experience in a professional setting.

Requires a strong proficiency in computerized accounting systems, with a demonstrated track record of extensive practical application.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, is essential, along with significant hands-on experience. Familiarity with Oracle or People Soft systems will be regarded as a valuable asset.

A strong aptitude for dissecting intricate accounting challenges and interpreting financial statements is essential.

A strong candidate must demonstrate the capability to design and implement accounting systems with a focus on mitigating potential risks effectively.

Must demonstrate exceptional proficiency in reconciliation processes, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial or operational reconciliations.

Must possess strong proficiency in English, coupled with exceptional written and verbal communication abilities in the language.
